Just what it says. Had a n issue with classic that it claimed it needed repairs but after scan wouldnt repair anything and it was playing like butt. So i went to reinstall it and now its just stuck with the spinning logo after i click install.
Before anyone comes in with the reinstall bnet, follow this list, follow that list, do this delete that go here go there blah blah blah crap…I DID, ive done it all. For over a day ive been trying every stupid work around fix listed by blizz and all the technical sites. After seeing the thousands of people having issues dling the latest patch and others reporting running into my issue after trying to reinstall things like they suggest its clearly a launcher issue.
The saddest part in all this is blizz responding to posts being posted in between and after the DOZENS of threads being made about this. Sorry we arent playing garbage overwatch but can we get some help to here? Can we at least get a “we are working on it” lie? Something?
Been having the exact same problem all night. started with retail and trying repair made it worse. now its saying the same with classic. It’s in a loop of saying it can’t update while classic is repairing itself. i’m not sure what to do already have panic attacks about enough don’t want to throw tech issues on top of that. i will note that i started having issues with bnet browser 2 weeks ago when it deleted itself not sure why. goodluck people.
When ever i press update for either it goes right into scanning for game files. only retail had a update at first but now theres a update option for classic***
Game stated an update was available and it started to initialize, which went nowhere, for hours. Things I’ve done since then;
Cleared the bnet cache
uninstalled bnet and reinstalled
deleted wow:df beta (no idea how that would have helped, but gave it a shot)
Scan and RepairNow the launcher is stuck in a perpetual loop and errors at 95% complete each time saying “Whoops! Looks like something is broken. Give it another shot”.
I’ve seen plenty of posts about this but absolutely zero communication outside of “we’re working on it” as of yesterday. Any info from a blue would be very appreciated.
I believe there was a temporary issue yesterday evening (Oct 5th) which caused this for some players. The Battle.net app should be working properly now, but if the problem caused your WoW install to become corrupted that may still be an issue.
Sometimes the game data can get into a state where the Scan and Repair function can not repair the data. Since all versions of WoW share the same data if one version of WoW gets corrupted it can affect all versions of WoW that you have installed.
If you haven’t already make sure to restart the PC and Battle.net app. Restarting will clear any stuck processes.
If the Scan and Repair isn’t working or if it’s looping, the best thing to do in this kind of situation would be to completely uninstall ALL versions of WoW through the Battle.net app. Feel free to make a backup copy of your Interface and WTF folders if you have addons setup that you want to keep after reinstalling.
Once it’s all uninstalled go in via File Explorer and manually delete the entire World of Warcraft folder (default location is C:\Program Files(x86)\World of Warcraft) before reinstalling the game one version at a time. It’s important to manually delete the folder before reinstalling, so that you don’t reinstall on top of any corrupt game data from the broken install.
I did what you said although i could not delete everything. Under Cache\ADB\enUS\ConversationLine12776.tmp just refuses to be deleted and i tried even cmd deleting it and i cant get it to go away. I segregated it in a diff folder and redownloaded and it worked but its just happened again. I get Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Im going to try one more thing. Ive segregated the file in its own folder and am able to completely delete my wow folder and im reupping EVERYTHING. If you know a way to delete that other file id appreciate it and ill let you know what happens.
