Tried to scan and repair to see if that would help with the new update not working and got an oops error during the repair and am now stuck in that cycle tried to uninstall the game as one technical help on the topic suggested and i am not able to reinstall it just goes to scan and repair and wont get out of that . i also tried uninstalling bnet but as soon as it was back up it would start scanning again
Hmmmm weird. I donât know if I just didnât get pushed to get the update, or if I am lucky, but my game is working as normal.
I have tried it all, from clearing caches, cookies, flushing DNS, restarting router, turning off the computer, uninstalling battle.net and reinstalling, running as administrator, clearing all tasks for task manager but to no avail. Still stuck in endless loop of âinitializing 0%â.
I feel like this is on their end and all we can do is wait for them to fix it. Appears to have affected a lot of people.
open the retail folder and use the WOW Icon to get into the game. Bypass the launcher that way.
I got stuck on the scan for retail but not for beta. Beta updated fine. My retail ended up needing a reinstall. Sucks.
I cant even get back to the initializing its stuck on a scanning loop , even when it says scanning is complete and will now repair it just goes back to scanning again
This hasnât worked for me.
Oddly enough, after i did a windows update, it suddenly came on for a while. Then i ran an erand and when back it was trying to updafe all over again.
Yep, hit me too. I am unamused, to say the least.
yeah Iâm pretty sure this is gonna be a reinstall.
I reinstalled battle.net and it was still scuffed. tried opening the wow.exe file in the retail folder, didnât work. deleted the battle.net cache folder in programdata, didnât work. deleted the 8.3 file, didnât work.
etc
Apparently itâs trying to update back to 8.3.
If thatâs the fix, then it should have worked for me once I deleted the entire game and attempted to reinstall. The reinstall is still stuck on âinitializingâ
Donât reinstall, it wonât fix anything.
So all we can do is wait?
now it has me trying to scan and repair all the wow games includeing the beta and lich king
Did you delete the file in the programdata cache for bnet too though? Just nuking the game itself wonât fix it if bnet still has the versions mixed up.
Looks like.
i did delete the file in programdata and when it reinstalled bnet it still is trying to scan and repair all my games and sometimes it says whoops try again and others it says it completed but then always starts to do it again
Yes, I deleted every Blizzard related file from Bnet to all Blizzard games and all caches and re-downloaded Bnet
Same problem here. I uninstalled to try and reinstall, and itâs âscanningâ the game files⊠that donât exist because I baleeted them. I canât even install the game. What gives?
Bnet must be reinstalling the old file lol.
And on that note, Iâm not sure if the file numbers will even match for everyone. My install has the 8.3 string in a different file than Marlamin found.
