So my bnet launcher and WoW app are stuck on “Installing required files” even after I logged in the first day 8.1 dropped. 2 days later and my launcher is sitting at
Downloading: 74.35mb remaining @ 0 b/s.
I have my download speed maxed in the settings like I always do, I ran the bnet app as administrator, turned off virus protection and firewall settings in windows defender and it’s still been sitting at 74.35 mb remaining for 15 minutes straight. I am unsure of what to do at this point. I have a 120mbps high speed connection, and the bnet app just sits there on Downloading.
Edit: Even though max speed was enabled for downloading patch data, I closed bnet and reopened it and my speeds reset to 0, so I typed in 9999999 again and the game finally started downloading again. Very odd I had to close and reopen bnet for this to work.
I found the same, I do not like the fact one has to fiddle with settings to get this stuff to work. my downloads reset to 1 or 0 as well
Howdy Thwompthing,
This error occurs when you have connected to our patch server but you cannot download patch information. This may be caused by a third-party program that interferes with your internet connection.
0 means unlimited and the issue with that in the past as been resolved it should be working correctly.
I would recommend to continue to focus on a third party block. Try the following steps:
- Make sure Secondary Logon Service is enabled.
- Restart the system into Selective Startup mode to disable all background programs. Make sure if you are using a third party anti-virus program to temporarily uninstall it.
Thank you!

Hmm, not running any 3rd party anti-virus, just windows defender, but I will keep note of this for the future. THanks!
