Stuck on Initializing/Waiting on another update

So I thought about returning to the game but when I try to download WoW I’m stuck on “Initializing” and “Waiting on another update”. After a while I get an error message “Something went wrong while trying to launch a program. Please try restarting Battle.net and/or your computer”.

So far I’ve tried a clean Battle.net reinstallation, running as an administrator, disabling antivirus, closing every possible process, updating the drivers, updating Windows 10, nothing works. Anyone have/had the same problem? What else can I do?

I’m currently going through that right now, even reset my PC thinking I had a virus, nothing has worked

I’m still going through that, it’s been days now. I’ve reinstalled Battle.net so many times I lost count.

Same here but only as of today…and it’s been hours :frowning:

So it is not just happening to Macs…

Happening to me too, on Win 10. Started yesterday. The best I managed was to get it going through ‘initializing’ at 10-12mb/hour in Safe Mode with Networking… and it just stopped and went back to ‘waiting on another update’, after five hours and 55mb.

There is no other update. Might as well be waiting for Godot.

I’ve been having the same problem on my Mac. I was able to get back into the game by launching the game directly and logging in via the game screen. It did ask me for an authentication code, but I still have the old authenticator app installed on my phone. Hopefully Blizz is working on a solution.

Tried booting up in safe mode with networking and it didn’t work, sadly. I don’t know what else to try.

After it went back to ‘waiting for another update’ for me in SMwN, I rebooted to normal and tried some more. It continued doing just a tiny bit at a time and creating an agent crash log in Errors approximately every half hour for another couple hours. Then I tried using a VPN, which went a little faster for a couple times – more like 40mb/hr – and then for no apparent reason did a whole chunk of about 250mb within one of the half-hour times between crash logs…

…and since then, nothing. I left it all night and only got more crash logs to show for it. Today, it’s been running and I’ve tried more random things that I found or thought of, and nothing, not a sausage.

When the agent does a crash log, the launcher doesn’t actually close or anything, so this may be happening to other people too without them knowing about the crashes per se. The crash logs all start as:

An application encountered a critical error:
Program:	C:/ProgramData/Battle.net/Agent/Agent.8445/Agent.exe
Exception:	0xc0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0023:0x4e2690

The instruction at "0x004E2690" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be written.

It’s not a problem with the memory itself – I ran a check on it. Anyone else getting the same basic error?

I get the error BLZBNTBNA00000006 after a while. According to Blizzard Support “Critical Battle.net Update Agent files are missing from your computer and the Battle.net desktop app can’t download new copies”. I followed all their steps and nothing works.

Just an update. The update download is working now after today’s maintenance window. :slightly_smiling_face:

Still the same here, not working.

Just go a new macbook pro so I could play WoW. Imagine how excited I was to run into this very problem. I was deliberate about installing MacOS Ventura too because Sonoma has been outright locking mac machines when playing. I was having this problem, and than just tried running the WOW app outside of bnet, and surprisingly could log in and play up until this morning. When I tried this evening I logged in and all the realms said incompatible. With that no longer working I tried everything, restarting, uninstalling bnet manually, reinstalling, nothing to no avail. Now it’s stuck on initializing again, and I can’t even seem to get the game to download any more.

I managed to fix it (Windows 10).

I deleted Battle.net, reset the WMI Repository and then reinstalled Battle.net.

same here. how do we fix this? If this many people are having the issue then shouldnt they resolve it?
