As of this morning’s patch I have been stuck on initializing all day. I’ve gone into my Program Data and deleted the Battle net folder and the Blizzard Entertainment folder a number of times, having restarted each time, but to no avail. I’ve also tried running as administrator (although I am the administrator and only account on this PC). pls halp.
edit: I’ve tried reinstalling Battle net but that also hasn’t worked.
I was going to say run the Scan/Repair tool. I just saw your edit. What happens when you try installing Bnet. What errors do you see.
What do you have installed in the way of Antivirus there Belroff?
I don’t see any errors. I don’t have any antivirus software running right now.
Antivirus often doesn’t disable well - nature of the beast. What do you have installed. Windows Defender and Firewall should be fine.
Explain what you see when you try to run the B.Net installer.
I have gone into the processes to ensure no antivirus software is running. Each time I restart Battle net I clear the cache. When I run the launcher it says it’s waking up the Blizzard Agent. When I’m in it asks me to locate wow, I do, then it prompts an update. It starts automatically, and begins initializing. And there it sits. Everything was fine last night. I feel like all there’s left to do is continually restart until the stars align.
Edit: Just realized you said installer – when I reinstalled bnet it acted as normal so I’m not sure what to say about that.
Okay I was confused. Your edit seemed to indicate that you uninstalled the Launcher and couldn’t reinstall. It’s odd that you have to locate the game each time. Are you able to run the Scan/Repair tool.
I have to relocate the game because I’m deleting the cache each time, in the hopes that it will fix the initializing issue. I just can’t install the patch, for whatever reason. I’m scanning now, will update when it’s done.
I need to head off for a bit here Belroff. Not sure if you are following the steps on the Support page for these issues. Check this link - open the Advanced troubleshooting section as well.
Still scanning believe it or not, lol. Thanks for the help. Will update when it’s finished.
Edit: Alright it looks like all I needed to do was scan and repair. Thanks again!
