You will probably remain in limbo until you use your own key, so level that up from wherever it is and then run it. Or, maybe you get lucky and you get into completion groups that end up timing it!

Every time I put together a 13±14+ the group falls apart. It’s like… incredibly complicated to get a solid group to 2+. I need a guild but I can’t find a late night one where I’m at.
sadly thats the cost of doing business when pugging.
We all have to deal with it.

It’s a little complicated, you should consider checking logs at warcraftlogs.com. If they have no dungeon logs, you can use raid logs instead. A lot of people look good with the score and ilvl metric but were carried there or just play really badly, so inviting good players will make your runs go more smoothly.

You mention looking at guilds, have you looked at communities too? I’m sure there’s a late night key community out there.

1800 is like 12s.
13s gets you 2k.
You’re applying to 2100 level keys with 1800 IO.

Right there, you can upgrade score easily by running 12-14s of 3 dungeons, SMB, TJS and CoS. That’s some big score upgrades. Stop aiming for 15s, you have climbing that can be done without them still.

This does happen sometimes, but the most consistent telltale sign for me is seeing if they’ve timed that specific dungeon at that key level or higher already. Most of the time when I deviate from this and give someone a chance, it ends in failure.
It is not foolproof, but it is definitely a numbers game. Keep at it.

ive had that as well.
1800 to 2200 was painful.
once you slowly get to 2200 it picks back up as your ingame IO score turns orange.
i guess leaders only spot the orange scores - consciously or not.
I feel it’s painful because peeps don’t realise timed 13s gives 2k.
So they hit 1800, and think they somehow need to be in 15s to get 2k. And so it becomes painful.
I literally blanked this so hard I’m in another galaxy.

Nope. Making your own groups is a saving grace. Can’t get rejected from your own key
how do you know its your score keeping you out? 1800 is a pretty good score. I assume you’re a dps and I bet that its not your score getting you declined but the 30-40 other dps that signed up. This is why people say make your own groups, especially as a dps, no competition for spots that way
I’m a tank.
Raider io and warcraftlogs both have guild recruitment sections with very active recruiters and the former has lots of mid level mythic plus folks looking for teammates. You don’t need to be running +20s to start looking for a dedicated group.
There’s also a bunch of active mythic plus communities in the in game community finder. Get your first 2-3 15s done with your own key and the rest come a lot easier.
You answered your own question on why people can be very selective.
My advice is in the pugs you do run, try and toss out btag invites to the decent people and make friends. They are also playing at the same time as you.
