I am a returning player, and before I stopped playing, I had a deathknight I got out of the tutorial zone, but had never talked to whomever is in charge now to leave the phase. I used the gear gift package and accidentally reset my quests. I do not have the quest to turn in to leave the phase, but am still in the phase. This prevents me from utilizing npcs such as the auctioneers, in addition to the by this point annoying flinging of rotten vegetation.
I have relogged, left stormwind and returned. I have turned off all my addons. I have also deleted my wtf, cache, and interface folders. I am still locked in the phase with no quest that allows me to leave it. I was directed by customer service to file a bug report, as they had no further guidance for this situation.
Update: According to customer service, I had not finished the tutorial zone, having only done up to Massacre at Light’s Point. So I was no where near done with the Dk starter zone (couldn’t remember, and didn’t know what level I’d be after finishing the zone, so I didn’t figure this out sooner). I do not have a scourgestone, but a hearthstone set to Stormwind. It won’t let me use Death Gate, saying you can’t do that while silenced (I let the /spit etc debuffs wear off, and still cannot use it). It also won’t let me use attacks and says I cannot use attacks while pacified.
Even if I get into a fight with mobs of my level (tried in Elwynn Foreste) I stand there taking hits, do not auto attack, cannot use any abilities. There is no error message this time.
Second update. A GM teleported me back to Acherus so I could follow up on the last quest I had. I just logged into this character to check her out, and sure enough, I’m in Death’s Breach, beneath Acherus, except there are no mobs or NPCs, and no flight masters to get to Acherus. I have no ability to continue on this character, and as far as I can tell, there is no current solution that will put me back in the right phase. No worries, though, I levelled another death knight to 60 since opening the ticket, so I don’t need it fixed in my case, but hope y’all can prevent this from happening to others in the first place.
I’m currently dealing with the same thing. I logged in after not playing this toon for years, and not playing retail for like 18 months. I’m pacified, so cannot get to Ebon Hold, I can’t speak to any NPCs or turn in quests, my toon is completely screwed. I can’t even use mailboxes. My character is only lvl 25, but I shouldn’t have to start over because this bloated mess of a game is so bugged, and all I wanted to do was try tanking the current DK. Did you ever get it fixed or did you have to make a whole new toon?
Edit: I absolutely did the starting zone quests on this DK as I have on every other DK I’ve had over the years. I didn’t even know you could leave the zone without finishing. Additionally, I’ve maxed out riding on this toon but can only use a ground mount. This sucks lol.
I was able to use the portal in SW to Dalaran and finally wasn’t silenced or pacified. This let me use Death’s Gate and there are no quests in Ebon Hold. Hostile mobs in the one level, no flight path on the other. Death Knights got screwed with bugs apparently. I might have to just delete this character and start all over again, which is super annoying.
