Hey guys, I’m about to lose my mind over this renown catchup system. I don’t know if it’s a bug or intended, but I’ve been at 10 all week. I swapped from Kyrian to Night Fae on Tuesday and completed all my intro covenant quests to get to rank 10. After that I looked up to see exactly how the catch up system worked. Found a blue post here saying you can do Dungeons, Callings, PvP, Raids, etc. to catch up to the current max. At this point I’ve completed 2 normal dungeons, 4 heroic dungeons, 6 Mythic 0’s, 5 Mythic+, first LFR wing, 30+ Arena Skirmish’s, 5 rated 2v2 Arena matches,2 random BGs, 2 Epic BGs, 3-4 Callings, a PvP brawl, 30+ WQs, 2 Torghast runs at tier 8, and I’ve still yet to go from 10 to 11.
Edit: My level 60 Warrior Sephiroth-Blackhand is the character I’m having this problem with.
Edit: At this point I feel like it may be bugged. I have the Night Fae dungeon abilities to skip Mists intro and get the buffs, and also am able to use the Kyrian spears in ToA. I’ve seen other people say the game thinks they’re in both their old and new covenant. They had to get a GM to help them, but the ticket ETA is 9 days. That’s a crazy amount of time to wait to progress in a main feature of the game.

I guess the big take away is that it’s rather random.
That’s a really big oof then… All that is at least 15 hours of gameplay for 0 renown. What makes me think it’s a bug still is I can still use both Night Fae and Kyrian perks in dungeons. As in the bypass for Mists and the Kyrian spears in SoA. I have this weird feeling it thinks my current Renown is my 11 from before and my 10 now combined to 21, not letting me get more due to it being above 15. Idk, just a thought. I wish I could know for sure so I don’t grind for another 15-20 hours just to get nothing. Thank you for the info though

Edit: This guy said he had a problem with the game thinking he was in his old Cov. I wonder if this is it. Said he had to get a livechat with CS. No idea where to go to do that. I opened a ticket in game but it’s saying it could take up to 9 days to get support D:

So it really is just RNG in my case… On top of all those things I did to try and get renown, I just tanked 15 Heroic dungeons on my Warrior to help a friend level and on my 15th one I got 1 renown. It is just designed to be an insufferable awful grind. 24+ hours of grind to get 1 level.
I mean, from a lore standpoint, you are basically turning your back on a different covenant. A second covenant would definitely be wary of you because 1) you used to be with someone else, and 2) you could turn your back on them just like you did at first.
But from a game systems standpoint, random is random. Bad luck, but still random.
A Blue is not going to be able to help you. It is RANDOM which means you may get it and you may not. My Paladin has been stuck at Renown 9 all week, but it isn’t guaranteed to give me the catch-up as it is random.

The Covenants aren’t at war or fighting. There is no lore standpoint. And RNG still has a drop chance. 24 hours of nonstop grinding shows everyone that it’s a broken system.

No it doesn’t. It merely shows that you are having a streak of bad luck with the RNG.

They don’t allow you to join their covenant and another. That is absolutely a lore standpoint. Be that as it may, it was more tongue-in-cheek. Your true answer is:
RNG is not cumulative. If it’s (as an example) a 5% chance, then it’s always a 5% chance. Even at 90%, the laws of nature can allow for a string of bad rolls.
It’s not broken just because you had bad luck. Keep at it.
I swapped covenants recently and I also think there’s something wrong with Renown system. I’m also stuck at Renown 10 three days after playing a lot. The only Renown drop I got - besides weekly quests (Anima/Redeemed Souls) and first row of Callings you get after swapping - was from world boss.
Last week when I decided to gear my alts, I could catch up my Renown to 15 real quick, in a day or two. It seems to drop from everything, even non-mythic dungeons. I don’t know about Renown drop rates, I highly doubt it is that low.
I changed from venthyr to Night Fea and was getting renown catchup levls like crazy. Now they have stopped dropping . I am renown level 16 and the cap is 18. How did you guys fix the issue? And i dont see any quest to give me the ones Replisnish the Resevoir or Souls from the Maw?
