Stuck at connecting

I have been playing the game fine, until I bought the new dino mount, must be a sign!

I keep getting BLZ51901016.

Drivers are all up to date, ran the repair tool. If I reset my modem I can get in for a few minutes then crash. Now I cannot get past connecting at all. Husband has no issues. Running on a stock Alienware Area 51. Not sure what to do at this point, send help?

Update: I can get into Classic fine. Also, all addons are up to date.

Update 2: Husband now cannot get into retail, others fine. His system is new, about 2 months old.

All of Blizzard’s connection troubleshooting resources are now available here:

The staff no longer reviews connection tests via ticket.

Beyond that, trying another network, a VPN, or talking with the ISP would be your next steps.

I tried running the script from this troubleshooting link and it says to right click command prompt, but I do not get an option to run as an admin. (Windows 10)

I got a reply to my ticket and Blizz sent me a link, clicked it, page not found.

Called the ISP hoping I would get someone that plays, I did not and she had no clue on even how to help me.

She kept asking me if I had any other issues and I was like, no everything is working fine, told her about the classic and retail servers and that I can get into classic fine, I just cannot get into retail. And no kidding, I bought the dino and got punted a few minutes later, and this has been my issue since. Going on 2 days now.

Your Windows account isn’t configured correctly; it doesn’t have adequate permissions or something else has taken over managing your system permissions. Blizzard wouldn’t be able to assist you with admin access on your own computer.

So talked with the ISP…4 different people. None could help. I even asked for techs above them…yeah that went well. Did a DNS flush, nothing. Had a tech here that just left about 10 mins ago, he said everything looks good on their end and the modem is fine.

Like I said, we have internet, I am on my PC now, I can get into classic, husband same, but neither of us can get into retail. Or if we do, we get booted after about 5-7 minutes. AND everyone at the ISP is saying this is a game problem…what do we do?

AND in the emails Blizz sends me, they post links…ALL of them come back with page not found.

Not sure what links, but many old support pages were retired, this is on i know of

The isp goes from them to you, Blizzard monitors it’s own network. There’s unfortunately a lot of internet blizzard and your isp is not in control of.

I did a DNS flush, updated add ons, tried connecting without addons, uninstalled game did a reinstall…had a tech come out, hard ware is fine. A network engineer on FB suggested in stead of being wired to the modem to go wireless, did that and have been in game fine since. So not sure if this is a Blizz problem or ISP problem, but I am in now.

My only thought is your Network card is burning out, if switching to wireless improves the situation. Not sure how your card is, if it is part of the mother board, or an addon card, but you can probably add a new card to the motherboard and test again.

I’ve been having the same issue for about a week. Connecting to Battle.net fine, but I was getting hit with the BLZ51901016 error when trying to connect to the game. I found this on a Reddit post, did it, and have been able to log right in since. Not sure if it’ll fix your issue but worth trying if it comes back:

  1. Open your Network Connections window from the Control Panel
  2. Right click your wireless connection and select Properties
  3. Click Configure…
  4. Go to the Advanced tab
  5. In the Property box on the left, select “Channel Width for 5GHz”
  6. In the Value dropdown on the right, select “20 MHz Only”
  7. Click OK

It cannot be anything with my hardware as the husband has the same problem and his system is new out of the box.

Where are you connecting from? I’ve seen others lately showing regional connection issues.

I am in South Dakota. I tried the trick Amaidia tried and it did not work. :frowning:

Edited to add I work graves so heading to bed, will be back later tonight. Thanks for any help.

Edited to edit:

I have a friend in town that plays as well, same ISP and he has no issues.

Now that I am on WiFi I cannot stay connected for too long. I get

BLZ51901016 and BLZ51900319 constantly.

Something changed, been playing fine for 20 years and all of the sudden this. My husband borked his battlenet trying to figure out what to do, so now he cannot even get the battlenet launcher to load. Has Blizz said anything about this?

We have been lookin online and finding people with the same issue, and not really finding what has worked for them. Really super duper frustrated.

When we were wired, we would reset the modem non stop. The game would load fine and you could get in, then after about 5-10 minutes, I would DC and could not get back in, like stuck at connecting until we reset the modem again and it was just a rinse and repeat.

This error occurs for when the PC Requirements doesn’t meet up for the games, according to the support article.

And this one for when the game disconnects.

Now, I haven’t experienced any of these issues, but I think the reason why you maybe experiencing these errors is because of mostly the first error. Your computer is not meeting the minimum requirements for WoW to run.

And judging by in your opening post, how you said you were running on an Alienware Area 51 laptop, that is quite an old laptop if I recall from memory. Now, it may not be the hardware, but the drivers. They could be out of date, which would not help. Try updating your drivers and see if that does anything as well.

I am running on a PC and the husband that has the same issue is running an Alienware Auroa new out of the box a few months ago. We have had no issues in the 20 years we have played until a few weeks ago. The kicker to all of this is if I run on WiFi I can run the game just fine. Talked with a friend here in town that plays, but is only current to Dragonflight and on the same ISP and he runs fine. All my drivers are up to date, nothing changed with the windows firewall. I run Win 10 and has 11…again we both have the same problem. In fact, now that he was trying to figure out what to do, he cannot even get Battlenet to launch.

Do you own or lease your modem? If you lease, see if you can do an exchange.
