As I digest your class/spec choices, I feel your comfort zone is well within the range DPS spectrum. As you’ve played around with a DK and shortly after ditched it, melee may not be in your cards, however, not ALL melee are boorish to a extent. Not sure what DK you rolled, but Unholy DK is where it’s at, very fun, very AoE friendly and great survivability and the rotation is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.
I feel you on the Hunter aspect, I really do. I myself am a BM Hunter (217), Venthyr though. BM has been a arm pit of a spec in Shadowlands despite the few buffs we received. Even though, currently, 76% of Hunters are Night Fae, along the while, Blizzard is buffing Wild Spirits for Hunters come 9.1. and haven’t touched Venthyr. I’d imagine 76% of NF Hunters will increase by another 10% since Blizzard is good at pushing META class/specs. Even though NF recieved a buff for 9.1, I will not jump ship to NF just because it’s the “meta”. I’ve invested TOO much time and effort in Venthyr to even consider switching covenants. Plus, the new Venthyr flying mounts look pretty good to pass up!
So, now, my new main is my Kyrian Fury Warrior and boy let me tell you, I’m enjoying it A LOT! He’s only 209 and hits like a truck with 10-12K AoE DPS and sustain about ~4.5-5k DPS all around. The Kyrian Fury Warriors big AoE burst comes from “Signet of Tormented Kings” (legendary) + Spear of Bastion + Bladestorm. These together make the Fury Warrior’s AoE very useful in a 5 mob AoE cap in Raid or M+, mobs just melt. Fury and Arms Warriors are looking pretty good for 9.1 as well.
But you seem to be stuck on that range DPS, which is fine, Locks, Mage and Hunter (MM mainly) are all good choices. Destro Lock and Fire Mage are pretty top tier in 9.0.5 going into 9.1. But, you’ll keep repeating the same circle in your comfort zone while in 9.1 you can start semi-fresh with a new class/spec, or just try a trial period with a few melee if you’d like to switch things up. The thing is, don’t go for META, that’ll kind diminish the whole point of the “fun factor”, rather play what YOU enjoy. So, if you wanna use that boost for another Mage or Lock, then so be it, but, I highly recommend you stay away from Demonology Lock since they aren’t really the pick of the litter except in main PvE content, and I’m not sayin M+ or Raiding. I love my Demo Lock, always have, but, I don’t strive “end game” content with my lock, just not in my cards.
Anyway, I hope some of my words bring some inspiring choices, good luck with your decision and WELCOME to the Alliance!
