Like I said I prefer the old way. Oh well, that’s why Classic exists I guess.
Sure but you can’t really word it like “it’s no longer melee capable” because it’s more melee capable now that it can use its full ranged toolkit in melee range.
Yup, but I find most range and melee not that great. Range is my shift to since it’s convenient but always in demand so I feel your pain OP.

Doing it in the same way as classic wouldn’t work in modern WoW: Hunters would just get steamrolled in PvP and there would be many prohibitive PvE situations. They would have to somehow make the melee side the same damage as the ranged side which would be extremely difficult. It would also necessitate having to maintain and upgrade a melee weapon. At some point the “flavour” of it is not remotely worth it.
Arcane mage is my thing for the fantasy. But wow, are they bad for the play. I need a tank and a healer and a safe place to snack for any type survivability.
For survivability, it would be MM hunter. New territory, I like to send her in first to get the lay of the land.
For fantasy plus survivability, it would be my Destruction Warlock. Yeah, sure Doggo might die a few times but it’s a demon, they always come back!
Just My Opinion!
Boomie is only fun during the burst phases otherwise its a very boring rotation.
I’d be satisfied if they just changed the animation so the hunter swings a melee weapon when attacking an enemy in melee range. The mechanics and tuning wouldn’t change, just the animation.
