Struggling as shadow in M+, help?

so to be honest i normally play Spriest but since DF ive not really touched it. Trying to get back into but i am really struggling to output decent dps for my ilvl.

Not quite sure what im doing right/wrong. so im just wondering how you guys start a trash pull.

Wowhead has a great breakdown showing the typical rotation for both ST & AoE.

For me, depending on the size of the pull. I typically VT 2-4 mobs first before SC’ing the pack. From there I go right into the rotation noted below. Hope this helps!

Wouldn’t SC before VT mean more psychic link damage?

Manually applying to a few mobs before shadow crash just builds more sanity to start with. When the tank is gathering it’s a good idea to fade then start manually VT a few mobs.

No. It results in more time spent not casting direct damage spells whilst Vts are active.

Assuming my cooldowns are up and I’m playing Archon, this is what I do:

2-3 targets

  1. Apply vampiric embrace to each target

4-5 targets

  1. Shadow Crash
  2. MPlague primary
  3. MBlast (to start CD)
  4. CDs ( VEruption, Trinkets, Halo, PI)
  5. Vtorrent
  6. Mplagye, then MB (usually procs at this point)
  7. Mind flay insanity procs
  8. Shadow Crash on CD (keep psychic link going!)
  9. Cycle between MB, plague, and Insanity to get as many empowered flays in while Void Eruption is up
    Set a focus target to give PI to in addition

W/Voidweaver it’s the same rotation but you’ll want to cast mind spike once or twice before you pop Dark Ascension CD and fit in 1-2 mind spikes in before each Void Blast to guarantee crits, they should always crit. Whether you have to mind spike once, twice, or at all depends on your crit and whether you have moxies Jug trinket which gives massive crit. No mind flaying, but sending as many of the juiciest void blasts as you can while your entropic rift is open (Note: you can finish a cast of void blast even if rift closes). The more mobs there are, the more impactful it will be to cast Plague during entropic rift (black hole) because plague expands the size and damage over its duration.

I’m not an expert but I’d imagine not cleaving VTorrent on mobs while also not benefiting from mastery because you don’t have 3 dots on your primary target is a major dps loss vs 2seconds of not casting VT, since we love mastery so much and all.

Try to add n’ adapt to some weak auras that’ll track important cooldowns so your dots never fall off and you don’t waste anything. Hope it helps!

If you play unfurling dakness vw dont forget to use fade during those gathering mob phases because the hit itself will get you an aggro guaranteed.
