Lol. You clearly have a biased opinion and a lot of your cons aren’t even facts but just fears. It would be the same as if I said pro - they can expand this feature to add mount cosmetic items to collect. It’s a wish and not a pro.
These sound like bugs and not cons. No reason they won’t be fixed. And to note…on live I jumped off a cliff with strider and I went into the water instead of walking on water. Either way…you saying waiting confirmation means it isn’t really a con and they really are bugs then no reason to think they won’t be fixed.
Minor inconvenience but barely a con. Technically if it cost 1 copper it can be a con but but 40g is nothing to access this feature.
I agree. This is a con but you can still buy water walking ability on water strider if you like that mount so much.
This sounds like an opinion and not a true con. Kills motivation and immersion. Dramatic much? Equip water walking ability on water strider and presto…water walking bug mount is back.
This is a fear and not a true con. I can make this a pro and say it adds precedent for blizzard to expand on features to make them more robust and rewarding.
This is straight up opinion. Add a pro that this feature supports Blizzard listens to their players to add new features.
Pure opinion and a very blanket statement. Add a pro saying Blizzards ability to add new content in major patches that aren’t raids.
This is straight fear and has no proof that it will happen. Add a pro saying this could allow Blizzard to allow flying at the start of a new expansion if you have the right equipment slot.
Ok…this could be a legit con but still a minor con in my eyes. Did Blizzard confirm you have to go to MoP or are you assuming this because of the exalted angler rep? Could they not have a mount vendor in major hubs selling this stuff?
Note…I do like most of your suggestions you laid out after the cons. I just think most of your cons are based on lack of information on this feature / lack of Blizzard communication to us about this feature.
First of all, it’s 40g right now on the PTR, subject to change.
Second of all, I get water walking on ALL of my characters FOR FREE right now — NO HASSLE. Even if it was 1 copper, it would still be a hassle to go and buy the equipment, and then have to send it to all of your alts. Maybe you’re okay with Blizzard adding inconvenience to players, but I’m not. They need to leave the water strider alone.
It’s not fear mongering - it’s just reporting what we’re seeing.
If it changes on the PTR - the bulleted item will get updated accordingly. There have already been adjustments made to the OP based on feedback from players on the PTR.
You have literally no idea what they’re going to do in terms of price. It could be cheap for the purposes of PTR usage. You really don’t know.
And you have absolutely no idea how the system is going to work if you think that ALL of your characters will get water walking FOR FREE. You only get it for free on the characters that have the Anglers rep. You have to pay for it for every one of your alts that doesn’t have the rep. EVERY ONE if you want to “keep” water walking.
In terms of how things function on the PTR, the chances of them allowing all alts to have free water walking is slim to none. If I don’t get for free on all characters without any kind of hassle, it’s an inconvenience, no matter which way you slice it.

Once my paladin mount decides he needs anti daze, my strider loses water walking.
Can I just enable it back for free whenever wherever I want?
Or do I have to log on a character I stopped playing 6 years ago (maybe even reactivate that account with real life $$) travel to an old outdated zone so I can spend gold to send water shoes to the alt who wants water walking?
Blizzard logic:
"Nobody should have to play old content to get a water walking mount. But we won’t put water walking mounts in new content, either. People should have to travel to old content to get water walking shoes.
“Also, play this old content for your allied races.”
That is making a huge leap that Blizz would actually the system to add things for us to be able to use. My bet is the reverse…things will be “restricted” just like flight is now. No more WW while leveling. Prepare to be dazed by every mob out there until the X.2 patch of each Expac. I’d like to believe the system would be used for new fun things…but the current dev team has shown over and over that if we dont do things the way they want us to then the fun will be removed until we have to do it their way.
Myself and a bunch of friends are trying to figure out if we should shift to GW2 or FFXIV - seems like the developers communicate better and respect their customers better at those companies.
