Worst thing blizzard could have done. This goes against the very PRINCIPALS of Hardcore that have been in place for almsot 25 years ever since Hardcore was released in Diablo 2? How many people have lost characters to DDoS attacks in almsot 25 years but now only this last weekend losses matter?

What would be cool is if someone hacked your account and deleted all your characters and then Blizzard never restored them. Oh wait that wouldn’t be cool at all, because that’s not how the intended gameplay is supposed to work.

I dont mind this honestly, prevents the DDoSers from benefiting in anyway.
What I DO MIND is blizzard blatantly ignoring the state of the PvP anniversary servers’ economy. They have said NOTHING since Feb 13 and its disgusting.

What’s the point of hardcore if Blizzard does nothing when the servers get DDoSed and kill tons of players?
I’ll admit, the DDoS probably wouldn’t have happened if not for the streamers, but if they did nothing I feel like it’d kill hardcore.
It’s the only response that makes sense, people just like being mad.

I misread their update, if they stick to only rezzing players on the 24th (posted on the EU forum, so I assume 23rd) that’s kind of crappy. They made a statement about expanding the scope from the 24th, which I took as expanding backwards to the earlier DDoS attacks, but I reread it and they say “after” that date.

If I were Blizzard I would absolutely give hypothetical situations like this some level of “streamer privilege”. Streamers are basically really effective absolutely free advertising. If you have some number of thousands of viewers watching WoW content every week, and the people making that content get griefed to the point it is no longer worth it for them to continue then you are taking a massive L as a game company.
