I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed and no other games are giving me any trouble - only WoW which leads me to believe it has nothing to do with my GPU and it’s something on WoW’s end.
Reverting to DX11 solves these problems, but the FPS of the game suffers for me compared to DX12 so I’d like to fix this issue if possible.
Specs are:
GTX 1650 Super
i7-9700
Windows 10
32 GBs RAM
2 TB SSD
You might try clearing the DX caches, but I’m not sure exactly which one WoW stores its DX12 shaders in.
Close out of the game completely and make sure it’s not still running in the task manager
Press start+R
paste in %userprofile%\appdata\local\D3DSCache
Select all and delete
There will be a few things that might not delete, but that’s probably tied to other things in the OS that are still in use
Do the same for: %userprofile%\appdata\local\NVIDIA\DXCache %userprofile%\appdata\local\NVIDIA Corporation\NV_Cache
Relaunch WoW and see if the issue persists
In case any AMD users have a similar issue, the folder should be: %userprofile%\appdata\local\AMD and any of the folders that end in cache like dxcache
Tried it - thank you, but it didn’t work. Will next move on to a full uninstall/reinstall but I’m starting to wonder if it’s just something technical between Blizzard/Nvidia that’s not being addressed.
It’s all but confirmed that this issue is effecting GTX 1650/1660 cards. May I ask what video card you are using just to see if my suspicions are true? I outright think it might be something on Nvidia’s end.
