Does anyone know why this BG was removed a few expansions ago?
It was a BG that folks regularly blacklisted when pvpers had the option. They must have figured it was largely best to remove it.

I couldn’t find them ever saying a reason, only players leaving their opinion of why they think.

Strand of the ancients isnt removed. You can log in and play it if youre level 71 or higher.
This is because you are playing the Classic version of World of Warcraft. In retail, It was removed when the Battle for Azeroth expansion was released.

Only on WotLK Classic. On Retail it’s 100% removed.
I know. Very fun battleground.
It was removed because it was too vehicle heavy. I don’t know if they ever stated that as the official reason, but that’s definitely why.
They didn’t like the entire point of the BG was using vehicles instead of your own character.
Something about imbalance. that so far I am not seeing.
Solid crews I have seen stonewall defence and no final door drop on defence and final door down on offence. Perfect victory.
so it may be imbalance due to player issue. as I have been on bad runs too.
those…I just go for plan b and massive damage body counts. when the team has settled for kill em all no plan…I can do that too. This char is actually 72. I plan on honor farm to hit cap by 80. mindless killing gets me that lol. so all good.
Could be gear imbalance as more successful crews many like me were full brutal first days as 71 common. If you have more brutals, yeah, it helps. but that is any map really.
now the place is buggy as hell right now so not sure how it was first time round. people in cannons last night were going I am shooting and hitting targets for no damage.
No reason to doubt them and those couple runs the demos steamrolled to relic door down fast. We tried to close combat them but alas…it was not enough.
Demo’s also seem to get a bug the workaround is current driver has to leave it and a 2nd driver hops in and it should clean the bug out.
Because it was unfun, unpopular and heavily blacklisted.
I think it was more fun than the temple one which I still don’t understand fully. But it was long and dragged out

Wow was it only BFA? Feels like it’s been gone longer… probably because I blacklisted it… lol
they should bring it back and add more battlegrounds while they’re at it. but if i really cared i would try to get a job there and do it myself and i know i couldn’t do that probably because i’m gutter scum so whatever.
They never said why, but the reason why is because it wasn’t really fun at all tbh
They should have removed battle for gilneas too. hopefully if they actually do get around to updating gilneas, they’ll remove that awful battleground. Worst battleground in the game, worse even than seething shore.
if you lose the first team fight at waterworks, it’s gg. pack it in. afk until it’s over. you have to have literally perfect planning or hope the other team is clinically brain dead to wrest control of a second point.

It doesn’t, but the majority perceived it negatively enough to warrant its removal, apparently. 
I think in my opinion it shouldn’t be blacklisted and I wish it came back. It was truly a Wrath Classic. It just wasn’t that fun for the Alliance to lose alot due to Faction inbalance.
Strand was black listed so much that Bliz got the hint.
