Safe to say it isnt rogue.
Is Anduin a Priest or a Paladin?
He rezzed an entire army in that BFA cinematic that was pretty cool.
Iâd say DRK or RPR.
Echoing the first dozen posts - Mage.
Youâd almost think it should be Warlock. Allure of power and all that over just being a Mage instead.
But theyâre largely villains (or minor NPCs) so they are never allowed to do anything too crazy on their own and the big plot points involving them tend to be about the larger Burning Legion and its leaders instead.
The âPhysicalâ classes will literally never stack up when it comes to lore feats.
So no Warrior, Hunter, Rogue.
Paladins tend to have strong personal moments but arenât really gamechangers on their own.
Death Knights never do anything big.
Priests never do anything big.
Warlocks are just bad guys or nobodies.
Druids donât exist unless itâs Malfurion, who is constantly ignored or deliberately handicapped because his strength in lore would be ridiculous to write around.
The only relevant Shaman is essentially just a Warrior now.
Evokers donât do anything.
Monks donât do anything.
Demon Hunters other than Illidan donât do anything, and heâs kind of like Paladins, strong personal moments but isnât really turning tides on his own for the most part.
Every time something BIG happens itâs a Mage.
Lore characters aside, in general the accepted answer is basically mages.
I think though that DKs though are the actual most correct answer (which isnât bias because I play all classes). A DK isnât just some run of the mill basic thing. To be a DK you already had to be an established top notch quality being that was picked to become even an acolyte DK who THEN had to go on and be pitted against OTHER DK potentials and overcome THAT to become an actual DK whose essentially handpicked by the LK themself.
Any riff raff can become a mage and learn to make a cupcake or pick up a sword and flail around with it and be a warrior. I think while the potential power ceiling âmayâ be higher for tippy top tier mages, the overall power floor and to a significant degree power ceiling is still going to be in DKs favor.
Also, Saronite combat armor⌠that stuff will straight up deflect most mid to low level spells.
Someone say lizard wizard?
I used to think DK was the most bada$$ class.
Raised by the Lich King, broke control and became this dark hero, and in Legion you become The Deathlord and raise a new Four Horseman (including babygirl Whitemane ) and even raise a Red Dragon as your new mount proving how bada$$ you are and how much you donât give a **** and giving Alextrasza the middle finger.
âŚand then Shadowlands happened, and Sylvanas pimp slapped the Lich King (more like the B**** King) and that power fantasy got flushed down the toilet.
I would agree that the DK power floor is probably higher than average (maybe the highest) due to the nature of what they are. Especially the Arthas era Death Knights.
But Mage 100% hands down has the higher ceiling. Mages get to do lore buttpulls all the time. DKs are essentially just strong warriors at the end of the day.
I feel like DH would be a pretty strong class story wise. The ones that survive the process to become a DH are supposed to be like the elite of the elite or something. And arenât some of them basically unkillable outside of the twisting nether too thanks to their demon souls?
Isnât this more of a mental thing due to what they go through after eating the Demon or whatever they do?
Basically just Illidan and the PC DH.
Yes and no. Physically they have to keep stable, mentally yes they can turn into full on mindless Demons, but physically they also explode if the Fel goes out of control.
An important note is defining the comparison.
Are we talking about the strength of specific hero NPC?
The strength of the average person in that role? LikeâŚthe average mage vs the average warrior?
Maybe the total numbers? While one warrior may generally lose to a mage. The total number of warriors may overwhelm the mages.
Illidan, jaina, thrall, etc all have used otherworldly powers to dominate different time periods.
But does that mean the class mage or dh, over all is the strongest? Or just these outlier individuals?
In an alternate timeline, a very mad Jaina wiped out the horde and all of ogrimmar with a giant tidal wave(in ours she was convinced to stop). So mage.
All of the classes have ridiculously equal top tier feats, itâd be impossible to say who of a god-mode named NPC Mage, Druid, Shaman, etc would dominate as they all have world altering feats at that level,
But if we take it down to the AVERAGE practitioner? Weâre talking apprentice nerd Mages, minor healer Druids, boulder animating Shamans⌠and Warlock who can suck the Life force out of all of them. In this case itâs DH/DK, just cause the average of both has pre-requisites that make them trained elite shock troops, or Evokers, since those also start out as super soldiers.
Donât give Blizzard ideas.
We already got evil Yrel to deal with eventuallyâŚperhaps sooner than later if my hunch about Midnight is true.
Coming soon: World of Warcraft: Shadowbringers
Thrall has always been a shaman though⌠All his buddies were warriors though. Grom and Garry.
Probably mage like Jaina or something
Iâd say Warlock. Mage 2.0
