While we appreciate your dragon cents, I think the Dracthyr would have worked better if

Have access to more visages, depending on faction

I really like evoker which is the reason Iām maining a dracthyr. If I could be an evoker tauren or goblin Iād probably jump ship in a heartbeat.
Iām not a furry or into big muscles (just not my cup of tea) but the dracthyr just look too skinny. I canāt believe them being dragon-killing-expert supersoldiers. If I knew nothing about WoW and you put a dracthyr and drakonid next to each other and asked me which one that description is supposed to apply to, Iād say drakonid every time
That being said, I also think I prefer drakonidsā backstory. It at least gives you more leeway to come up with a unique character for RP, while dracthyr all have the same story. I also found myself interested in the (very brief and ill-defined, unfortunately) arc they had in this expac about being upset the dragons moved in and took over after all this time away.
Thereās also the issue of being a winged dragon who canāt fly under my own power I mentioned earlier.
Thankfully this issue is at least being addressed next patch and Dracthyr are getting Dragonriding ablities/Regular flight next patch. Since it looks like Dynamic/Static Flight is coming with the patch
I definitely second that Evoker is a super fun class. I donāt mind the visages or appearance either, but I think my PoV varies in that I play all female toons so the lithe more reptilian form doesnāt really bother me that much. Although, I can 100% see the opposite view-point of wondering why they donāt have an option to be beefier and I definitely think the visages shouldāve varied by faction.
TBH if it wasnāt for the whole ādragon riding a dragonā thing breaking my pedantic brain and the fact that the transmog is so limited I couldāve mained one for a while. The janky xmog thing with the shoulders/belt showing in Dracthyr form completely killed it for me so mine will be an alt for the foreseeable future.
I love the CONCEPT behind the Dracthyr and think they have a chance at becoming a truly fun class to play if Blizz would just loosen a lot of the restrictions put on them. I have a lot of cool mail mogs from maining a Hunter for many years and I canāt use any of them in their main form .
I am grateful theyāre at least addressing the flying issue. Now if they would just open them to other classes, and Iād probably race change to one
On another note, I was surprised that I managed to get into the SoD servers last night. They added layers to the server to allow more players in this launch so there wasnāt HOURS of wait-time like usual Classic launches.
Itās SUPER fun so far for anyone that likes Classic, thereās enough of a twist that it feels fresh but still evokes a ton of nostalgia.
Workinā on an Undead Priest and an Orc Shaman so far. Highly recommend if anyone is considering giving it a go!
I will tell you, the one thing I love about the Evokers is their Male Visage Hairstyles. I wish the Blood Elf Males would have some of their options.
My Evokers Visage has his hair almost like mine IRL (style - not color). Basically long hair, with a mustache - but no chin hair.
I donāt see what is so hard about giving Blood Elves a mustache without the chin hair. Void Elves and Male Evokers in their visage can have that option. But not Blood Elves? Pft!
Dracadactyls should be able to choose their transmog options based on which of their forms they are in.
When Iām in scaley weirdo form, I should be able to have no armor showing, without it making my fleshy weirdo form look like sheās ready for Goldhire.
That just makes me think of the Hulk
Itās weird, really. They seemed to have a lore reasoning for the locked down Visage forms, with the hints of it having a āspecial purposeāā¦ but then never followed up on explaining what that actually was. It is one of the only loose plot threads in an otherwise fairly airtight origin story.
The HAIR yes, UGH. I wish theyād give the hairstyles to other races, or at the very least the ones they share their racial skeleton with. The textured/highlighted hairstyles are far and beyond superior to some of the pixelated messes that human females have going on.
Itās one of the main reasons I never use the human model when on my worgen characters. Theyāre such a mess to try and Get Right if that makes sense.
The female model is slightly easier to mess around it, but itās still difficult sometimes to get the look Iām going for
That actually makes perfect sense. I have my Worgenās Gilnean form set JUST SO and I never toggle it unless Iām changing eye colour to match my transmog. (Or the rare instance I want to be a white Worgen!)
Itās a little better now that they extended customizations but I remember the nightmare that was trying to match your Worgen to your Human form and ALSO to your Druid forms because the hair colour of your Human was dependant on what colour your forms would take! Man, that was a MESS.
Ahh, I also forgot the hairstyles were linked too. Giving myself stress flashbacks!
Iām one of those furries that wishes Worgen had a tail option like the Panda have, but I know itāll likely never happen. But one can dream right?
I think the real answer is that the supposed lore reason was just an excuse because of design / mechanical / work limitations. If they ported over worgen programming to work from as a base, the devs might have had only two body types to work with under the hood.
But the timing of the dracthyrsā creation in-game, the time they learn how to use visages, and the intended message they represent all feel self-contradictory with why their chosen forms look the way they do.
but thatās ok, I still think you are pretty swell.
Thanks! Runs and hides now
Naovi, you just spoke to my Cataclysm era issues.
The race to benefit the most from the new customization options must be the worgen, because now you can customize your wolfie without it mussing up every single other aspect of your look.
Good because anyone who wants tails on a Worgen is just simply wrong. Werevolves mythologically donāt have tails, thatās how you can tell a werewolf from a wolf.
wait, Pandaren have tails?
edit: Pandarens do have little round tails. that is cute.
They were given red panda tails I believe. Even though red pandas are not remotely related to pandasā¦ they are closer to raccoons.
