See, I really don’t care what my magic bird is going to look like, much like how I never much cared that my warlock’s imp looks like… Well, the default imp. My warlock’s minions aren’t my pets; they are summoned minions, they mean very little to me. From an RP standpoint, and especially from a player standpoint.
Nearly every pet in my stable has a taming story. Yeah, some of those stories are as short and simple as “I saw a cool looking X, so I tamed it”.
But others are my white saber kitty I’ve had since Vanilla. I can still remember infiltrating Darkshore from the coastline, carefully walking around to avoid any Alliance PCs or NPCs (PVP server days) as I travelled to the north end of the zone. Running around some ruins, looking for little statues, hoping this’d be the one to spawn the white saber kitty. Dodging Alliance questers because I had no pet and was about the same level as them, and I knew if I dealt with even just one of them, more would come to help them soon. And yadda yadda yadda.
She was my main soloing pet up until Clawful. From Vanilla to Legion. I still bring her out of the stables every so often, just for the memories.
She is gonna be replaced by default bird my spec just has. Or I’ll go BM and maybe use her, but probably settle instead on a spirit beast I went around taming just to have them all, also in Legion.
And the worst part, the absolute worst part, is this line:
Like… Yeah, we freaking are!!! So why are you taking away MY pets and replacing them with some goofy minion bird that defines my class in the same way a warlock’s default imp or an Unholy DK’s default ghoul defines them???
And yeah, yeah, I know. “Well there’s always BM!!”
Imagine telling Outlaw rogues who have only played Outlaw that they don’t get stealth or sprint anymore, but there’s always Subtlety!!!
It’s not the same spec. It doesn’t play the same. It doesn’t feel the same. Yes, they both have pet (for now) + ranged, but the entire dynamic of the two specs are very different entirely. BM is not a replacement for MM.
And all because mythic people want to not have to summon and dismiss a pet to get Bloodlust. Because just making that a button they can press to gain that functionality is too hard I guess. Imagine, a button you can press to cast Bloodlust!! Unpossible.
No, instead we get an entire rework so we can have Default Bird instead of the large collection of pets we went and tamed.
