Well in other news I think that Andor show is pretty good.
Actually nice seeing Star Wars try something different. Seeing more ground level stuff and peaks into the bureaucratic machinery of the Empire feels fresh. Don’t get me wrong I love jetpacks and lightsabers as much as the next guy. But the story feels a little ridiculous when it’s constantly contriving reasons to be about the same dozen or so characters.
Seriously for something purporting to be a galaxy the big name characters constantly bump into eachother like it’s set in a very small town. It also lessens the drama a bit as if a story has say Obi Wan and Leia in it, you know they have to be fine given the nature of the story, so it turns into guessing which of these new side characters are going to die. Pro tip it’s probably not the one played by recognizable actors attached to other Disney projects like Kumail Nanjiani.
So a story set on the ground level with one recognizable character you know is doomed anyway can actually do it’s own thing. I really like how we see good men loyal to the Empire and the mental gymnastics they play to convinve themselves the evil they see isn’t institutional but rather the fault of indivudual bad actors.
That’s such a fresh angle and to me at least is a lot more interesting than the family drama of moon wizards.
yeah, guess not. you win Doness. All I was hoping to find were some people who may be interested in what I have to offer a forum community, but it’s clear now you were only interested in… other things. You were not the first to act like this, you won’t be the last.
I don’t care what liars say about me anymore. I believe I’ve already made my case. Sane people know who’s right and who’s wrong here.
You’re probably manipulating me too. I bet you didn’t actually delete your blog. I don’t know how Tumblr works. Maybe there’s a way to temporarily disable everything. There could be some way I don’t know about to restore it. Maybe you have a backup.
Go ahead, keep believing the toxic garbage that your toxic friends keep feeding you about me, need I remind you, you’re the one the who got banned several times for causing unnecessary drama
I find it particularly interesting as we’re getting the darker side of the Rebellion and a more human look at Empire adjacent people.
Throughout Star Wars pretty much anyone in the Empire or it’s time peroid equivalent displaying any positive character traits will either defect to the good guys or at least leave to be 3rd party like Ventress. Most Imperials we meet are driven purely by greed and/or malice.
When that’s not how this really works and that’s why I find this Syril Karn guy interesting. He’s not a bad man. He seems to believe in the job, in duty and a cause greater than himself. He wants comradery and purpose. And those desires much more than vengeance or lust for power are what so frequently lead otherwise normal, decent people to be part of truly horrifying organizations.
I also love how the show portrays the everyday lives of people andor comes across. It’s not the peachy white rose society the empire wants people to think it is. Most are struggling and selling scrap or worse to get by on a daily basis
I’ve only watched the first episode so far but I’m loving the grittiness and the overall visuals, it gives me more dystopian vibes similar to Altered Carbon (which is another great Sci-Fi on Netflix if you’re unfamiliar) I feel like we’re overdue to see the more abysmal parts of the Star Wars universe, 'cause not everyone gets to be a benevolent space wizard. Excited to watch the rest!
I’m interested in Andor, but I have a policy of only watching seasons when they’re complete, so it’ll be a little bit before I can.
Planning to watch Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, just because I am an old, old Gohan fan. I have low, low expectations because it’s Dragon Ball and it feels like everything I’ve heard about it is a retread, thematically, of Cell Saga themes and ideas – disappointed to see Gohan back in his teenage gi – but I’ve also heard it’s one of those ‘surprisingly well-written’ things like Resurrection F and the Broly movie so who knows.
I’m personally always interested in seeing the more mundane, ground level perspective in fantastical settings as that’s typically where you’ll find the best characters. Because they’re obliged to be interesting on their own rather than just having an interesting job or outfit.
I feel similarly, though it’s less because of inherent interest – I think people interest me pretty easily in general – and more because those people are the ones that help you best understand the setting. The giants don’t, so much, as their perceptions get to actually shape their local realities in ways that extend beyond mere perception.
I’m sorry but I need to address this because this is what started this whole thing.
“I hope you don’t turn on me like you turned on Baal.” that’s what started this. When you said this to me in private i knew you were two-faced.
Baal was a cool guy, until he became a Twitter troll who got blocked by Blizzard Devs because he threatened them and harrassed them. I am not the only one who noted his decline and his lies. Again, another FAKE friend.
If at that point, you had mad up your mind about me, you should have said so, we could have parted ways quietly weeks ago, instead of making a public mess in the Lounge.
