Apparently, the Scarlet Crusaders saying “You hit like a girl,” in the DK starting zone has recently been changed, at least in Wrath Classic. They now say “You hit like a peasant.”
the old DK starting zone was nice to revisit in wotlk and the ending as you go to the new capital city with your new alliance as everyone is throwing rotten fruit at you and yelling get out of here! just reminded me i’m a dk in always
There is still so much more that needs to be scrubbed. Here’s some things I noticed in my replay of old zones.
- Azshara Azurgos line about how he hopes Kalecgos can give him one of “those sunwell girls”
- Northrend Dalaran Higher Learning achievement, one of the random books is one where it’s implied a mage has nonconsentual sex with a woman while she’s polymorphed into a sheep. (I’m actually suprised this is still in the game) There’s also another mage book, teaching mages how to pick up women because mages are nerds and not as cool as alpha male warrior classes.
- The MoP quest where the Hozen falls in love with the undead until he learns she’s actually dead and he can’t get any.
That’s it so far but I’m sure others will pop up. The gross treatment of women, and the toxic masculinity in this game is endemic.
(also don’t get excited that I am back, I am not. I am just subbing for a month to see if I get Beta access)
Yet another instance of either virtue-signaling or fans being punished for certain past devs’ perversions.
How in the world is removing an in-game Pick Up Artist manual “virtue signaling” or punishing players? What planet do you live on that this sort of toxic garbage is acceptable?
Don’t worry Thad, your personality is enough to repel women, you will need more than a pick up manual to get someone. You will need divine intervention.
I don’t miss this place.
It was a harmless joke item and lore tidbit, it didn’t need to be removed. It wasn’t like NPC Sergeant Afrasiabi or the land named after Jesse McCree. They removed it as a ham-fisted attempt to try and distance themselves from people like the aforementioned two and David “get the chix” Kosak.
Most of its advice was for non-human women that don’t exist, and the part about human women was actually tasteful. So toxic lol
Random lore question : is there any Anubisath left ? Meaning, uncorrupted or at least alive ? Afaik they’re the only Titanforged race we never had any friendly interaction with, and they might be the very first one to go extinct.
He’s freaked out because she has a skull for a mouth. Seems pretty reasonable considering the denizens of Pandaria are completely ignorant of the undead.
When you first crash land the locals think Kiryn was horribly injured in the crash and are shocked when she stands up. And Lorewalker Cho initially thinks you’re sickly until he pays more attention and notes how strong willed your people must be to persevere through such darkness.
As far as I know, nothing says that we killed them all. If Battle Pets count, then we have the Anubisath Idol and the Void-Scarred Anubisath.
Never thought I’d see high-end American technology in the form of anti-radiation missiles being launched from Russian-built aircraft. This gives Ukraine a huge advantage.
After the Reagan administration supported the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, and we saw how that turned out… I wonder if we will end up with all this weaponry we are flooding Eastern Europe with used against us.
If Ukraine wins, they could pawn alot of it what is left off to more dangerous nations. If Russia wins, they can sell off or deploy what ever is left.
Eh, I guess that’s global politics.
I doubt it. You’re average insurgency isn’t fielding aircraft, much less aircraft that can use advanced missiles that require specific modifications to even use in degraded fashion. A MiG-29 will never use a AGM-88 as well as a F-16C can, which is why Ukraine is so keen on getting pilots rated on F-16’s. Remember how the US sabotaged Iran’s F-14 fleet after the revolution?
The US supposedly got their filthy paws on some high-end Russian technology designed specifically to counter AWACS and other C&C platforms. It’s a win/win for western powers to get rid of expiring weapons and field test some low-end concepts in exchange for some Eastern technology that’s lost due to Russia’s Alliance-like incompetence.
Tbh we screwed that pooch in the end game. We could’ve helped them prop up some infrastructure after the smoke cleared. But once Ivan was defeated we were done.
So you had a country where most of the male population was under 25, with ruined infrastructure, that was more or less isolated from the broader world. Unsurprisingly a lot of crazies rolled in and seized on that opportunity.
Few things are more valuable to warlords than a bunch of young people with no education or any hope for a future.
The Communist regime in Afghanistan was brutal, and killed more people than any Islamic group ever had in modern history, even before the Soviet Union got involved. I still think not a dime should’ve gone to those mujahideen.
Battle Pets are weird. I never know whether I should pay lore attention to them or not. Some are definitely canon, since they’re the reward for completing a canon questline, while some others are clearly joke content
wait, this comment is not satire?
Do you actually refer to an ingame pick up artist manual, written by sex pests, for tips on how to attract women?
Tbh it had nothing to do with Afghani suffering. It was payback for the Vietnam War where the USSR armed and trained the northern Vietnamese army.
I find the book amusing, because it is so ridiculous it is funny to me.
I am also A-OK with its removal.
The game over its entire history has consistently shown women in a much more objectified light than men, and taken as a whole, the effect is less humorous and more insulting. One absurdity is droll, two absurdities are amusing, and a series is a dystopia.
I will survive not being able to chuckle at a lore PUA being dumb in the game and appreciate that Blizzard is trying to do better.
Just to emphasize this further:
Russia’s land military and economy are very powerful. They are certainly not United States powerful, but they’re somewhere on the major power list, in a combination of inertia and sheer size. GDP doesn’t tell the full story because purchasing power.
Their air force is an absolute joke relative to the rest of their land military might*, because air forces are incredibly expensive. Not just to maintain the aircraft but to get effective usage out of it requires so much training and logistics that simply wouldn’t be efficient to allocate in an economy as “small” as Russia’s, even without the rampant corruption.
The political situations internal to Ukraine (a country which sees itself as a nation and has the wealth necessary to create uniting infrastructure and culture) and Afghanistan (a country which does not especially see itself as a nation, has been meddled in by empire after empire that actively maintained/emphasized existing divisions, and has no wealth) are not especially comparable.
'* Please do not mistake this for praise, they’re still underperforming dramatically and getting their soldiers killed. Also emphasis on land military. The Russian Navy is arguably more of a joke than the Russian Air Force.
Of course, but that didn’t stop U.S. propaganda, as well as Rambo 3, from attempting to portray them as righteous warriors
