So I don’t want to make a whole thread to ask a small question which means I’ll leave a thinker in here for you all.
Is there any established lore for Dwarf Monks or where can I find some lore about what Monks go through in training? I’m wanting to write a character backstory so I can try and RP but I have no idea where to start for a female Dwarf Monk. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Playable monk lore basically starts and ends with Pandaren. While there have been some other monks among the Humans and Draenei from before the Pandaren joined the wider world, those are a far cry from the mist-slinging, ale-guzzling, celestial-worshiping monks we play as. Essentially every single monk of any given race was, lorewise, taught by a Pandaren trainer.
'course, that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with it! The dwarven connection to alcohol is a particularly strong one, and the Brewmaster Monk is all about their booze. Perhaps your character met their trainer at a drinking competition? Took a beer tour of Pandaria and fell in love with the culture? You could also just as easily look past most of the Pandaria theming and roleplay a drunken brawler type of character, or even a more religious Holy Light monk a la the Scarlet Crusade. Sure, you’ll have to ignore a lot of cosmetic effects, but what’s roleplay without a little imagination, ya know~?
As for lore about what monks go through in their training, that takes care of itself as you play. The quests you get while leveling a monk literally have you go through training, taking in lessons and earning belts to signify your rank. There’s also a pretty lengthy quest chain in the Jade Forest where you join a big dojo, I remember having a lovely time with that. And, don’t forget the Pandaren starter area, which explores many relevant themes and also served as the monk class hall for Legion.
Really, monks are one of the most well-realized classes in the game from a flavor perspective – tying them so closely to the Pandaren race and to Pandaria as a whole served to greatly enrich the lore of each. Unfortunately, it leaves people a little lost when it comes to non-Pandaren monks, but that’s nothing a little imagination and creativity can’t fix! ^.^
I’m trying to do both as well and it is more difficult. I have managed to get my Horde main mostly caught up. All I have left to do is the Vol’jin storyline, which I need to start doing M0, starting with Atal’Dazar. Should be fun when I get to it.
So, I’ve been playing on Alliance side for a bit and noticed something.
They get free 370 gear weekly for killing 25 Horde players in WM and I don’t think Horde gets it? I guess 30% WM Bonus wasn’t the only benefit. All you need is search a party using Group Finder tool and gank max lvl Horde players. It was kind of fun, though.
I can’t even. This is Heroic BfD Gear for free weekly. You can’t imagine the salt I’m having right now, I’m going to make a crying post in GD. Maybe It’s time to main Lucidsong
I mean, it was a dumb question. They said they’d be out in 8.1.5 which hasn’t been released yet and probably won’t be for a bit. There’s datamined stuff for Noblegarden in it, so just before Easter.
What? that is stupid, why blizzard is doing this?
This is completely unfair, 1 week before the opening of mythic blizzard is giving heroic gear basically for free?
370 was fine because it didn’t really mattered… but this…christ.
Sigh, what the hell is blizzard doing?
just…ugh what terrible design.
My sub’s up at the end of March. That gives me only like two weeks to play something that was advertised when the expansion was first announced, thanks blizz.
