My youngest son is obsessed with the simpsons. I was not allowed to watch it when I was younger. I got into it late, but it’s so funny.

Same. In fact there is a 100k group of mostly Aussie and Kiwi simpsons fans on facebook that I’m apart of. I used to post memes in it when it started back in 2017-2018 but not anymore =(. That, “it’s been done” video I linked a few weeks back is from someone in that group.

my mom said it was innapropriate, and I guess in the beginning it kinda was. but, compared to cartoons like Family Guy it was tame by comparison and my mom let me watch Ren and Stimpy as a kid so she obviously didn’t know what cartoons where bad.
I had a Ren and Stimpy night gown lol.

Yeah there are a lot more adult themes and humour in the early years. After all it was designed to be a satire of the nuclear family sitcom. And boi did it piss off people like George Bush Sr. Even though they treated him with respect in the season 3 episode, “Lisa goes to Washington”.
Two bad neighbours remains one of my favourite episodes because of that.
I want to see that meme with the karens and the cat in relation to that whole bit.

I was watching a podcast the other day, and they tried to prove Matt Groening was a time traveller just based on how many things Simpsons have successfully predicted.
I’m not saying I think Matt Groening is in fact a time traveller, but there’s been some psychological study in “predictive media” and it’s actually kind of interesting. If you really want to jump down the cognitive dissonance conspiracy theory rabbit hole, you should look up the correlation between predictive media and the declassified CIA project of MK-Ultra. (the real MK-Ultra not the scifi MK-Ultra, aka mass mind control through subliminal messages, everyone born between 1960-1989 in North America has been brainwashed in some capacity by the MK-Ultra program to “trust the United States Government.”

Which is funny as the Simpsons only came to exist because Matt didn’t want 20th century Fox from having complete rights to his Life is Hell comics. Which was part of the contract since they wanted to adapt the comics into a TV show.
So Matt instead pitched the Simpsons… and named 4 characters after his own family. What I find funny and this is on the season 2 dvd extras, is that Matt left the name of Abe Simpsons to the other writers as he didn’t want it to be too on the nose that he named the family (excluding bart) after his own. And they chose Abraham which is Matts grandfathers name.
Which is why I think this scene
Is a spoof of that fact.
Funny story about the Simpsons. I played the Hit & Run game when I was younger and worked on getting the collectibles. I barely watched the Simpsons so I didn’t know the importance the items had to the shows lore but I tried to make connections with the information I was given. I found the item “Lisa’s Pregnancy Test”, and being a child who didn’t know how reproduction worked, I made the assumption that Lisa used the pregnancy test in an episode and it got her pregnant. The idea of child pregnancy in the Simpsons terrified me.

I lived through an ultra conservative government in the 90’s and had zero sex ed until I was 17-18, the school promoted abstinence only religious curriculum, and I didn’t know how babies were made. I’m a huge advocate now for sexual education. I thought babies just materialized into existence and you could catch pregnancy like a cold.
When people said they “accidentally got pregnant” that scared the hell out of me. Like, I thought it was contagious 
My sister is 10 years older than me and when she got pregnant at 20 I was like “stay away from me! I’m too young to be a mother!”

I’ve played with it for a bit. I’m hoping we get a Tib Sun and a RA2 remaster. Since they use the same engine.
Dear god that last NoD mission on Tib Sun Firestorm was painful on hard. But I got it done.
I can tell I played SC2 for a while because getting used to the C&C controls was rough.
