Hello, I’ve been playing enhancement since the launch of the War Within. I’ve had no problems with my spells but I recently aquired a dagger upgrade while leveling in enhancement and now I can’t use stormstrike or lava lash. it says “requires one-handed melee weapon” even though I have two equipped (one in each hand).
I’ve seen in older posts that this sometimes happened with daggers being an issue, but to my knowledge I can still use daggers in this specialization (it says so in my weapons skills in my spellbook).
Any help or comment?
Shamans can equip daggers, shields, fist weapons, maces, and axes, but equipping a Dagger or Shield disables the use of most melee abilities and is highly discouraged.
That’s just how it is to enhancement

Daggers are permitted for Shamans, but not in the allowed list for Enhancement Shaman special attacks like Stormstrike. (Elemental and Restoration Shamans can productively use +INT daggers.)
You’ll need a one-handed mace, a one-handed axe, or a fist weapon (with +AGI) for each hand for Enhancement.

I appreciate you replying with this! Thanks a lot. Is this written somewhere in game? This seems highly unintuitive to players as I can’t see it written nearly anywhere…

It isn’t well documented, which is why that support article is needed at all.
If you look at the in-game page for Enhancement Shaman in the Specifications and Talents page (“N” option), you’ll see a list of “preferred weapons” that doesn’t include daggers (or at least, it used to; I’m not at my computer now so I can’t confirm). “Preferred” actually means “only weapons which will work with this spec’s mastery and rotation”. Kinda misleading, but here we are.
Outlaw Rogues have exactly the same issue, except that they’re allowed to use one-handed swords in addition to the Enhanced Shaman “preferred” list, but daggers won’t work in the mainhand.
It’s been this way since the start of Legion, but the documentation has never been very good.
