I went over to do this on my alt, and it was going just fine. We got all the portals down, then the boss in the middle disappeared and the “trial of elements” box spawned inside the cave. We shrugged off the boss in the area left and attempted to do the trial, completed the trial and the box disappeared.
Everyone else standing around didn’t get to loot it either.
Sucks it was a waste of time.

Seconded. The Trial of Elements overwrote the Storm’s Fury halfway through.
So completed the Trial and the chest simply vanished rather than give loot.
Ugh.

Same bug, closed all portals fighting the boss then it resets at about 97% health and the quest just restarts as though zero progress has been made.

Yup just happened on Moon Guard.
Very blizzard quality testing, didn’t even check to see if events would override each other.

Similar thing happened to me. Kill boss (which takes forever), only for it to despawn mid-way through.

Exactly I was right there also. Now I’m reading that you can only collect max of 25 essence of the storm for the week/event. You get these from boss, a quest, elites, a glowing primalist cache at end which will have 9 of them…Obviously with the boss/event leaving us hanging by screwing up we missed getting our max on these for the week! Which I find totally unfair unless the “whole” WoW community got screwed like we did.
It’s one thing if you can farm for stuff like this but they cap it on us.
I feel very bad for anyone who was waiting 1-2 hours for the chest to spawn and that glitched on us also.
I get bugs and issues …but unreal the mess throughout all areas this week is insane.

Same issue twice in the last 2 days. Guess ill just give it a pass 'til I hear word that it’s been fixed.
yeah we had the boss halfway down twice and it reset. I gave up after that, it got annoying.
This has happened enough times to me that I think I’ll add it to the list of WQs to not attempt. This list is actually starting to add up due to bugs, instance issues, and generally unfun design.

Storm’s Fury WQ vanished when Chest of Element spawned…and once the chest element event was over…the chest vanished and many were not able to loot even though they were present and tagged the final mob.
I still haven’t been able to complete a single Storm’s Fury event due to the bugs and just apparent despawning.
I did it on one character no problem. Switched to an alt, got all portals closed, had the boss down to 50% and I phased into one that still had 2 portals up. Closed those, engaged boss and at some point it despawned. Then the world quest disappeared off my map even though it had 1h30m left.
Happened pretty much like this for me too on Mal’Ganis this eve.

This exact thing just happened to me too. Chest disappeared, no loot, and Storm’s Fury event disappeared and I never received credit for the quest.
