Should Stormbolt just be baseline at this point? The fact that many other classes (DH) have multiple CC’s; warriors should at the very least retain Stormbolt. It makes picking anything else in that row a non decision in most cases.
Warrior is not a setup class.
Doesn’t matter?
I can agree with this and appreciate the additions to our kit that provide more utility. If there were more options in PvP that didn’t rely on stuns to clinch a kill I would appreciate that. As well as classes having more distinct strengths and weaknesses. The addition of shattering throw will give warriors a solid niche beside priests.
Further to this, when I look at Fury I don’t feel it needs the stun due to its sustain. It has enough tools to do well and compete on its own. In contrast Arms has suffered a lot due to a lack of defensives, self sustain, stun, and utility. It only starts to shine when pocket healed with mortal strike.
It really does. Storm Bolt is the only stun warriors have (besides for prots shockwave). For most Dungeon and PvP encounters it defeats all other options in tier by the sheer fact that it exists as the only stun. The other talents only really shine in extremely niche situations or raid encounters.
Yes we retain Intimidating Shout which can be useful for controlling a secondary opponent. But requires specific set up to work effectively and can be quite easily mitigated.
No I was saying it doesn’t matter if warriors are a setup class or not, there’s no reason they shouldn’t have a stun.
Except Warrior’s have always had a baseline stun(s) in their tool kit. Them not having one baseline has been a more recent change in the last few expansions.
Stormbolt should be baseline, but on a longer CD. Then the talent should improve the CD to what it currently is now.
I think a good solution would be bring back Throwdown baseline (melee range stun), and have Storm Bolt stay in the same place on the talent tree and replace Throwdown.
At least then you have some sort of choice in that talent tier. Do you want a ranged 4 sec stun on a 30 second CD and only 1 charge, or a 5 second melee range stun on a 45 second CD with 2 charges or a 30% heal on a 30 second CD?
I think it’s a pretty fair trade off.
Range stuns shouldn’t really be a thing.
I don’t think so either, but since they are at least we have that trade off option.
Personally, I think 2 charges > Storm Bolt anyway if Throwdown were to come back.
But it won’t happen. Wishful thinking.
I feel like this is too much mobility for a class that already has good mobility. I’d take a .5 sec or even a 1sec root off charge though.
But yes, Throwdown was peak warrior stun.
That is true.
While I don’t think our mobility is good per se, our gap closers are pretty solid.
What I mean is; we’re still a wheelchair class regardless of having Charge and Leap. But you’re right, 2 Charges would probably be a little on the imba side.
I might be more inclined to agree if we didn’t share a world with demon hunters, monks and druids.
And we’re already getting Intervene back as well as Heroic Leap legendary in SL, although I don’t think we will be running that unless vs arcane mages or something like that in arena.
Aren’t warriors the only melee spec in the game that doesn’t have a baseline stun? I’m pretty sure thats how it is so logically yes, they should have a stun. I’d like shockwave baseline though.
So it turns out warriors are the only class without a baseline stun, yes. But that’s if you don’t count Death Knights, who only have a baseline stun via Unholy spec (pet stun). Still better than what warriors get though (nothing).
Demon hunters actually get a baseline AoE stun (Chaos Nova), AND they can talent into a ranged stun (Fel Eruption). So they actually get two, which no other class in the game gets, except rogue, whose baseline stuns are melee range except the Outlaw one.
Now I hate playing the “X class has this so we should too!” card, but there is no reason warriors still have to talent into their only stun.
Hell take the other 2 melees that have stuns as talents (DK and DH) and look at that specific talent tier for them. The other 2 options are generally pretty useless so it’s not like they’re giving up anything real meaningful anyway.
I hate this topic. Makes me realize how much I hate not having a baseline stun and that no matter how much I hate it, it’s not going to change. Talenting Storm Bolt for the 4th xpac in a row boiz.
Don’t forget DH have meta stun (AoE 3 second stun in PvE) AND imprison. Plus their interrupt is more than melee range and awards resource. It’s really bizarre the toolkit of some melees vs. others. Look at outlaw rogue, too. 3 yard increase on melee attacks, stuns, blind, tricks, etc.
Stormbolt should be baseline and Shockwave should take it’s place on the talent tree. Taking Shockwave should replace Stormbolt.
They can also purge effects and mana burn. Most their attacks double as chaos effects which allows them to mitigate many physical resistances.
What annoys me the most with DH’s is they have what should be a warrior ability. What ability do I mean? Illidan’s Grasp.
You strangle the target with demonic magic, dangling them in place for 6 sec. Use Illidan’s Grasp again to toss the target to a location within 40 yards , stunning them and all nearby enemies for 3 sec and dealing (10.3194% of Attack power) Shadow damage.
Something like this would of been a solid addition for warriors and fit the fantasy completely. Being able to engage on the front line and throw your enemies away from an Ally, towards an Ally, off a cliff, outside the sanguine, etc. There is so much utility that this type of spell could provide for skilled players.
Instead, demon hunters get it.
Definitely could be a warrior ability. Also isn’t that ability only for veng DH? I rarely see anyone use it. Wasted talent should go to warriors who would use it more
I dream of throwing people off cliffs or into mobs. It is one reason my warrior is a Kul Tiran. Being able to have knock back punch has changed my playstyle and allowed for some nice opportunities.
Hell, I would even be happy if I could throw my Ally’s too.
