Store mount idea to match the recent donations?

i just noticed blizz/acti gave 4 million to help curve systemic inequality https://www.wowhead.com/news=316404/activision-blizzard-pledges-4-million-to-fight-against-systemic-inequality
i was thinking, lets go a step further. We had in the past a few mounts/pets tied to specific relief foundations for natural disasters that have raised momentous amount of money. why not for this issue aswell?
The 4 million is ofcorse a generous donation as it is but if we attach a mount to the store we could probably quadruple it without a issue.

You do not need a mount/pet as a reward to donate

If you truly wish to donate as a selfless act, you wouldn’t need compensation, donate directly

eh, its icing ontop tho. Plus, this might give people who unreasonably dont want to donate a nudge in the right direction.
Kinda like leading a donkey with a carrot. win win.

Except people think “I’m doing my part as long I get something back!” Every time these donation and pet combos show up

A real donator wouldn’t want compensation, they would actually donate directly to something like the red cross

I might donate $10 alone, but if Blizz would put a $25 mount for charity I’d grab it. So would a lot of other people.

No true scotsman. Nice.

Do you really want to gate keep helping a cause because someone might do it for selfish reasons?

So what’s stopping you to donate $25 directly

It’s my money, I do what I want with it. If I want a $25 mount to donate then I’ll wait for a mount. I’ve already donated $10 on my own but with you being a HMP, you would know all about self righteousness even in situations that don’t call for it.

Well for one reason its not getting anything back for it.
Some people might be penny penchers. Unreasonable to support a cause and get nothing in return when you cant support a roof over your head.
But maybe someone would dip a little bit deeper to get soemthing and get karma points thats reasonable too.
or
maybe something would pay bnet balance to buy it, thus helping the wow token economy and still helping a good cause while getting a mount out of it ontop of donating with hard cash.

still… a win win situation for all isnt it?

its kinda like donating blood for the free pizza voucher. It insensitive the masses with a little bit extra.

You would also have those who want the mount/pet but don’t support the cause you cannot have something that punishes players for a personal opinion

So you proved my point, you’re not donating out of respect, you’re just donating because you want a reward out of it to make you feel good

Well those said people aren’t really selfless donators and wouldn’t actually donate after all

ya and then you get extra money for those chumps who bite the bullet for that mount even tho they dont support the cause.

i did donate. 15 bucks. Might be 40 if they release a mount tho.

No you would have a pr nightmare with headlines of “blizz reward those on this side while punishing the other”. Something that would go directly against the equality stance they have

How is not getting an optional mount punishment? That’s just an excuse.

Fundraisers are bad is what I’m getting from this.

“I rather buy a mount for $25 if it goes to a charity than to donate directly myself because I want something back from it.”

Not sure what mount/pet would be appropriate. Maybe an eagle for egalitarianism.

Because in order to achieve it you would have to support something you don’t believe in.

So… What’s stopping you for going $40 directly then

That’s still not punishment. You aren’t required to get it if you don’t believe in it.
