Seriously. My alts DO NOT have their cloaks yet, they may not for a while because 15 cloaks is annoying to get, so why the hell am I getting an overabundance of corrupted items from normal world quests? It makes them 100% worthless, even when they’re a 40 ilevel increase. If I am not doing 8.3 content, DO NOT give me 8.3 corrupted items.
they need to give us a few mementos from wq’s or the like…
Work on the cloak, then do a minor vision, takes just 5 momentoes to clean the corruption, just make sure to keep the best pieces depending on your class and role. It was hotfixed to always corrupt certain rewards for those looking to get better odds of receiving those pieces.
But why should I have to? Like I said, I have 15 alts at 120. The quest to get the cloak is horribly boring and tedious - I don’t feel like doing that 15 times. I haven’t done a single 8.3 quest on these alts, yet I’m given these garbage corrupted items?
That’s the price you pay if you don’t want to do current content.
Well the issue is that the multi-hour quest chain to get the cloak isn’t really worth it for true alts…
But I also just ignore corrupted gear on those alts too, as they don’t even need them either.
Cloak quests are really difficult for undergeared people. And you can get corrupted items when you’re a fresh 120.
There’s no excuse for corruption from itens that came before 8.3. It should be removed.
If I’m choosing not to do current content, why am I being given current content gear that makes my character notably weaker? That’s poor logic on Blizzard’s part.
You are playing inside current content. If you’re in BfA there is no way around that fact.
I understand the annoyance, and it probably wouldn’t hurt to have a npc that cleansed corruption for free with no quest to unlock it.
On the other hand, since you aren’t progressing alts enough to actually do anything with them, I would think enough non-corrupted gear drops that you can just vendor trash the corrupted stuff and move on to the next thing.
Nope, I’m not. The most current content is 8.3, which I am not doing. I haven’t done the intro quests, any of the cloak progression, none of the assaults or dailies. Therefore, I should not be getting gear that literally makes me character worse.
I don’t mind the corrupted gear dropping from N’zolth’s raid or from the Invasion zones, and Visions.
But, when my low level alt completes a WQ emissary for a weapon that would be a massive upgrade (that’s why I brought the alt out of moth balls) and the weapon procs a +65 corruption on said alt that also has no cloak…That is a MAJOR Bummer.
It effectively boosts my ilvl score, which boosts the NPCs I would face in the Cloak questline, making them harder. And even in the cloak questline, you do not receive the currency to clean a corrupted piece until you’ve finished the entire quest change - including the Heroic Vision. …nice.
Are you inside Battle for Azeroth zones and content? Then you’re inside current content. Saying you’re not doesn’t change that.
I’m pretty sure corrupted items aren’t literally useless without the cloak, it just makes things a little more complicated; even with almost 200 corruption it rarely destroys me. I love the risk reward concept but the RNG needs to be relaxed if they make a similar system again.
My cloak-lessDemon Hunter alt ended up with pants with 50 corruption on them some how. I don’t have anything anywhere near that on any of my other characters.
It’s a colossal upgrade otherwise.
…
“Is that Cthulhu in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?”
“It’s Cthulhu! =D”
Corruption cleansing should be like the Netherlight Crucible, back in Argus. Account-wide unlocking.
No I’m not, and yes it does. Current content is whatever the latest patch is, not the overall expansion that’s existed for a year and a half. If I am NOT doing 8.3 content, I should NOT be getting 8.3 “rewards.”
But… You are. The proof of that is shown when you get a piece of corruption gear. Your logic is illogical. The expansion exists as a whole package, not individual parts. That’s why it’s 8.1 and 8.2 and 8.3 rather than 8, 9 and 10.
Wrong. The world quests I’m doing existed since 8.1. The NEW quests only came to be in 8.3, which is current. By your logic, because it’s in BFA, Uldir is still current content even though it’s now a useless raid. Your logic makes no sense.
I quite enjoy getting corrupted items on my alts. It adds a new dimension to the game when you have to consider if that item makes it worth getting the cloak on that character.
And really, the quest to get the cloak isn’t that bad considering you can skip over two of the longest parts. Took me… a few hours all told to get the cloak on Smedmore here. I’m sitting on a Twilight Devastation piece right now… 18% of current health damage with 75 corruption. I don’t know if I’m going to get rid of it or work on my cloak enough to make it safely wearable.
