Not only can we smell it from a mile away, it feels hollow and lacks effort.
Try thinking for yourself for once.

Iâve noticed people at work using it to answer emails. People really are not able to have their own thoughts lately. When they do attempt their own thoughts you can really see why they use AI
Its setting up a scenario where all interactions are just AI to AI in some industries. Its coming because human default is to follow the path of least resistance.
Apparently schools moved over from phonics to âcommon core readingâ or whatever and now we have young adults and kids growing up that only memorize the shape and sound of swords. So when they try to read and guess new words, they canât, but think they do. So they donât look up what the word means or how itâs pronounced. Real disaster we set up our society for
I believe youâre talking about sight words. Thatâs taught in the early early grades of elementary school. They still learn phonics it just looks way different than it did when we were kids. The issue IMO isnât what they are learning but it is how they are learning.
I could get way into what I think is wrong with schools but itâs too deep haha. Iâll just say one thing quickly though. Schools are constantly following whatever new study is âhotâ at the time and changing their curriculum and teachings around it. That sounds great to someone from the outside but in practice what this means is that one year youâre teaching one certain way and then the next year you completely 180 flip flop it around, then the next year itâs another massive change. It confuses the kids and is overwhelming for the teachers to constantly have to be trained and retrained over all of this. Obv itâs way different state to state but the similarities are still there.
Iâm with you on people using Chatgpt. I agree - donât use it to write your posts.
But I saw you accuse a dude on another post of this. His comments were full of grammatical errors, comma splices, misplaced modifiers, etc. Chat gpt wouldnât have made that many mistakes, especially on grammar. So, before you accuse people of doing it, you may want to do a little better job of being able to spot it, which will require you to learn a bit of English Comp, grammar, and punctuation, as well. Js.
Ya thatâs basically this study in practice except they teach it intentionally now in younger grades.
Thatâs just an Internet meme, and not based on a real study. It is rather interesting, and seems to work pretty well for short words, but tends to fall apart as word length grows.
This post (from 2003) goes more into depth about debunking Bouma recognition (what they are calling that word-shape recognition). It seems to suggest that recognition is based more on letters and phonemes.

Iâm never going to care enough to read a post that a human didnât care enough to write.
AI is going to cook our society faster than social media has. How long before everyone runs the same mass produced opinionâŚ
back in my day!
AI slop despite being 100% garbage i still better than 99% of the incel slop these forums see every day,
at least chat GPT isnt a bunch of 40 year olds arguing like children over the dumbest things and acting like a video game controls their life.
posting this on the forum thats currently 99% 30-40+ year olds arguing like 5 year olds over pre or post nerf is its own irony. AI is still 100% garbage but these forums are 105% garbage and people need to stop blaming AI for the fact that even as misinformation slop its still more mature and factual than most posters on here and thats a sad bar be under
Its a tough one. I think on the amount of productivity I have wasted over the years responding to people that really just needed a, to put it politely âNoâ response! Checking my statement, rereading for flow. Making sure the response is clear but the underlying message is also clear. When AI could have taken 10 seconds to generate a response that is still all of those things. Actually, your selling me to use it!!!
If blizzard can use it why canât we ![]()
This is why LLMs fail. They predict each letter one by one.
Brains donât work like this. They will never match us at most things.
Context engines are helpful. But sure, if you give zero context and expect a useful prediction, youâll probably be disappointed. This is somewhat similar to real lifeâŚ

LLMs donât understand anything they tell you they are just advanced probability engines.
âPray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?â

It doesnât matter what you feed them they LITERALLY donât understand any of it.
They donât understand any concepts.
They are advanced pattern matching probability machines.
