All hiring was diversity hiring since it is illegal to discriminate. This limited new era of enforced diversity hiring isn’t diversity hiring it is just a box being check marked / tokenism hiring.

Here’s the inevitable drawback to the Rooney Rule though.
Let’s say you run a company that uses the Rooney Rule. You have a critical position that you must fulfil for continued growth, success, etc.
So you begin the interview process. But there’s just one hiccup: You do not meet standards under the Rooney Rule because you cannot find a “minority person” who a) fits the criteria for said position and/or b) even wants to interview for said position.
Thus, under the Rooney Rule, you cannot hire for said critical position under the Rooney Rule. What do you do?
Sure, you can always hire but are you prepared for the inevitable social backlash for not meeting Rooney Rule criteria? Are you prepared for inevitably being labeled something which is not true just because you cannot meet Rooney Rule standards?
Or, worse, let’s assume you have two candidates, one of whom is minority status but meets only Rooney Rule standards but does not meet the criteria for the role which you are hiring for.
Do you A) hire the unqualified minority to avoid social backlash to meet Rooney Rule standards and risk your business or B) reject the unqualified minority candidate and risk social backlash and the inevitable resulting damage to your business and reputation?
Problem with the Rooney Rule is that it is designed to fail from the outset because it requires criteria to be met that may not be able to be met.
Oh I see… So being of a different colour makes you automatically qualified? That is entitlement at its finest.
Neither was hers for just being ‘black’. Get over yourself. This mentality is why the next phase of western civilization will have a ‘caste system’. Like in some third-world countries. What you actually want is mediocrity.
No need. I actually made it very clear. Job selection should be based on merit. Nothing else. But what you want is to insert race and color into everything to feel ‘qualified’. Mediocrity at its finest.
