Blizzard needs to master near-light-speed travel so while it may take them a whole day to perform maintenance relative to them, relative to us it’d be done in a mere moment.

I feel like people never remember how we were also paying 15 bucks a month back during earlier stages of the game, and every single Tuesday there was an eight hour maintenance. And we didn’t have things like the WoW token back then either. Nothing like watching the evolution of convenience turn people into strange folk.
