Stop the bots

#stopthebots

Blizzard - I’ve worked hard at the game and gold on one account for 12 years. This money and effort is rendered meaningless by the MASSIVE SYSTEMIC BOTTING PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE CULTURED , CURATED AND IGNORED ON EACH AND EVERY REALM IN YOUR GAME, EXPANSION AFTER EXPANSION.

PLEASE:
Permanently close each and every bot account.
Invalidate each and every bot email address, barring re-registration for Blizzard products.
Block each and every bot IP address from ALL Blizzard services.

I was watching asmons stream about this and it is ridiculous and something must be done.

I believe there’s a specific reason why they don’t permanently close bots and instead give suspensions. Sadly I forget what it was.

What I would like to know though is why is it so much worse right now compared to other times? I never remember seeing it this bad

Bots =/= multiboxing.

I think you’re conflating two different things here.

The popularity of ISBoxer for multiboxing made multiple account more accessible to a lot more people.

Unfortunately, that also gave the gold farming bots an easier way to do THEIR thing and they drew massive attention to ISBoxer, which is why Blizzard ended up banning it and all programs like it.

You can still multibox legally, it’s just a lot harder now. The bots don’t care, they are still using ISBoxer and getting themselves banned when they actually get caught.

Everything is so over priced right now the reward easily out weighs the risk. For example 1 herb node is 150-200g easily…so I can only imagine how much money bots are racking in.

I find it really funny that, instead of banning them, Blizzard put the moonkin bots in their own shard to stop people from spamming the reports.

Not that I support boting, but dang that is a brilliant idea.

Knocks out the need to answer bot reports while still letting them rake in all the subs from the bot accounts.

Yep. Old blizzard banned bots. New blizzard protects them.

level a Druid on both factions so you can swap to the opposite faction of the bots and get ahead of the lead to tag everything and let them kill it for you. Winning!

My question is why its always low post count alts used to make this topic.
any reason for that?

Stop the bots, can’t stop the bots you can’t stop the bots can’t stop the bots

They generally do

Pretty sure email addresses are tied to the accounts that get banned, so… already done

It is incredibly easy to use a proxy / VPN service to get another IP address. Also, most ISPs don’t give you a static IP. It is just as easy to go into your router, release the existing IP, wait a minute, then renew to get a different one.

So the fromsoft approach. get caught hacking, get put in a server with nothing but other hackers… lol

The theory is that players are actually less likely to pick botting back up (at least right away) if they can get their account back eventually*.

Most botters have multiple accounts to bot on (goes well with multiboxing). They know (or should) to use a throwaway set of accounts and should never use their main. So instead of setting up 10 new accounts, is it better to just wait 6 months for the suspension to be lifted? Especially when the bot program is obviously vulnerable.

The main focus is on breaking the bot as completely as possible anyway and stamping out the source.

I’ve seen botters throw absolute fits over a suspension, and it seems like it’s worse than a permanent ban honestly for some reason, but that’s just my personal observation.

*I think. Its been a long time since they posted about ban waves and such, but if memory serves that is the idea.

Except that it meant that the hackers could collect gold in peace.

Then Blizzard should make this special place a nightmare. Increase mob hp by like 1000% and they do the same for damage also. Then the bots get one shotted or so.

Make it a scary place, no peace, only bot war! Also the bots are all on free for all pvp flagged…

Do they? Cause in Legion (I believe) every few months they would make a blue post right after a wave, and they were 6 month suspensions, not permabans.

I think a more effective course of action (though also easy to get around) would be banning payment sources :+1:
Ban the Elestia Stormrage 4000 2200 0014 0013 card
