I have spent about 20~ years thinking about these things we call “MMORPG”. I was even going to make a long drawn out post about it. But it really comes down to one simple concept. Stop taking things away. I did not start this playing this genre of videogame because I liked things being taken away from me and I feel that others probably feel the same way. I feel like so many ideas can be changed for the better by adding something to the game instead of taking something away. I feel like this post acts like a Rorschach test. A million different people will see a million different things. From casual to elite, to PVPer to PETer- pet collector. Hate to make a post seem so philosophical, but there is a reason there is something rather than nothing. I like the concept.
What are you talking about? This game is sweet.
I think it maybe could have used another 10 or so.
true enough
Are we talking about content or cosmetics? Because I have different opinions between the two.
Content should never be removed. When I say content, I mean the quest lines for the MoP/WoD legendaries. Those should still be in the game. When it comes to stories, they should remain. One could argue the Mage Tower scenarios should have stayed as well as there was a story element to them.
However, cosmetics are fine being temporary. They act as incentives to play at the time, and to do the content currently. I like when 1% of cosmetics in the game (really, less than) are time sensitive. As a collector, it makes me want to push myself to be sure I’m getting those items. It incentivizes me to play the game, and I strongly believe that is healthy.
When it comes to content vs. cosmetics, the former should never be removed, but the latter can have a couple limited, imo.
As a collector it annoys and stresses me
Different people react differently. Nearly every online game has some type of cosmetics that are limited to certain time periods. It’s for the people that played at that time, and it’s up to those who come after to temper their emotions or let it consume them. I’ve missed out on so much in this game despite putting in 13 years, but I let that push me to pursue what I want.
Adding minus signs is in fact adding
Just because that minus sign results in a loss doesn’t mean it wasn’t added
I’m for it, I like exclusive items etc.
In order to keep a goal and achieve specific game designs, taking stuff away is ideal.
Artifacts were designed for Legion, combining Artifacts with covenants (while having all our Azerite gear) heavily bloats this game into a complete mess.
Several things however should never be removed, like Sentry Totem or Eyes of the Beast.
Also, removing stuff like Dinosaur mounts is a fantastic idea. keep some things unique please.
I just let it consume me and fester into another brain tumor
Going out of their way to make old expansions completely obsolete is stupid, and borrowed power feels awful.
They could’ve baked Artifact passives into their respective classes after 110, and some of the Azerite traits we’ll be losing could’ve been turned into new passives, talents, bonus effects from rings/trinkets etc.
ok but what are you talking about
this is like using a pronoun before you’ve established what the noun is. “hruuf go get it!” “get what?!” “IT!”

For hwat??
Nah, I agree with him.
It stresses me out that no matter how much I played this game, I will never be able to 100% it. Honestly the thought makes me want to give up playing the game.
The only people who like exclusivity are people who can’t be happy unless other people aren’t
100% want Blizz to stop taking things away.
I just don’t like relearning everything with eah new xpak. They did mild system, gameplay shifts up to ata pre patkh. sine then it seems really drastik. From WoD forward.
Its exploiters faults like rextroy he got so much nerfed because he keeps exploiting for fame and money while ruining the game for others
