Stop removing portals

Well, over a thousand people have voiced their dislike, distaste, dread, and feedback about this change. Is Blizz going to do anything about it? If this were 2007, Blizz would listen.

Not just that - the portals at the Shrines in Pandaria had themselves been there for six and a half years - and the game world didn’t “feel smaller” in that whole time. Like the sudden decision to remove flying, this decision to declare a fatwa on portals is something absolutely no players asked for, ever.

This I agree with 100% I will get my mage to 120 then set her aside. I can’t even fathom how the company thinks this is such a great idea. I already hate the fact the company cut two capital cities out and now were going to go for more.

I can honestly tell you Sharaesdel me and my partner do that more than we like. She is not even interested in the new expansion and I’m not even going to tell you how she felt about the Drano land.

All this time gating is NOT keeping people subbed but forcing them to leave faster and not look back.

I’m sure we’ll be given an explanation/justification something along the lines of “Players have complained about a lack of bag space for years and requested larger bags. So we’re taking a step to solve some of that issue by removing the Dalaran Hearthstone. Now you’ve got one additional slot! Aren’t you excited by that?”

Tell me I’m wrong. I dare you to tell me I’m wrong.

I logged into my 90 pandamonk the other day. Hadnt been on it in a while and was ready to use a temple portal to go farm some.
Realized the ports were missing for him too. For some reason I thought these jokers would have made it so characters IN MOP content would still be able to see the ports. Nope.

Once I realized the ports were gone, got irritated and spent most of time I would have been playing irritated and either posting in here or playing with my brand new hand plane I bought recently. Barely played the game at all that day over the agitation of the missing portals.

It would be VERY entitled for someone to say that I should just play the game even when its irritating and the fun has been removed as I define fun, not as daddy actibliz defines it.

Those portals in MoP were harming no one and didnt need removed OR replaced…which Im calling Boon Swoggle on. I dont think they are replacing the missing ones at all.

Sad thing is you are not, we seen that excuse too many times used on us. Or a twisted variation of it.

Yeah.
“hey team…screw putting in man hours to fix that ‘in combat’ bug we’ve had for years. Go remove some portals. That’ll learn 'em”

Those people don’t work on WoW anymore.

You need to understand that the world would feel much much smaller with the removal of easy access to areas through portals. The portal room is a good addition, no one is denying that. But removing portals makes no sense at all. You want to make the world feel bigger? GIVE US A REASON TO POPULATE OLDER AREAS. Every single person that plays your game on a social platform such as youtube or twitch has said this. It is bad enough walking around the main Horde hub in BFA is absolutely trash, now you want us to waste more time.

I’m going to add my voice here before I return to my forum break, because I feel it’s best to speak up.

Taking away things is never fun. Those that want to feel more “rewarded” can do so by not taking portals. I’m not happy about all of them being taken away at all. The world isn’t bigger. I tab out and autofly at this point. I’ve seen it already. For goodness sakes I’m a roleplayer too, and I still don’t pretend to care or be IC when I’m flying to farm.

Also that’s the thing you guys aren’t getting. A lot of us farmed old content. I was thrilled when we finally got faster ways to be somewhere without being a stupid mage.

Point is-- I also am not happy about these portals being removed. It isn’t necessary and just another thing on the list that will piss people off. Like I said: plain and simply, the world won’t feel bigger. It never has. It’s old content. The people that enjoy the portals don’t care about nostalgia and don’t want a bigger world because that’s not what it creates. We want the options put there for us back.

Also, stop trying to cater to the old school crowd. They can take their nonsense to classic. Or… Ignore portals. It’s that simple. I’m not going to “pay a mage” why would I bother with wasting my gold on something so stupid? No. I’ll just end up playing the game less. As usual. No idea why I bother to log in anymore… Wait. It was to farm old content. Well now even that is made more unnecessarily a hassle when it wasn’t before.

Oh yeah. Since when do mages magically get the portals that are being taken away from us? That’s news to me. Kharazan and such, I mean.

Bornakk, I want you to know that there are some of us Old Skool WoW players from Classic who are not interested in playing Classic again, but want some of its systems and design back in Modern WoW. Portals are one of those things. In my view, the less Portals the better. I personally would like it going back to Mages being the only way people can Portal around. It creates a market and a niche for Mages, and in an MMO that’s a good thing in my book.

If devs seek to make mages’ portals “unique”, they should probably make new unique portal spells for mages instead of removing existing irreplaceable public portals that everyone uses on a daily basis. My two cents.

Unfortunately Blizzard will look at all the responses and see JUST this one and be like, “Oh, EVERYONE wants portals taken away now”. Taking away the portals from us is actually ridiculous. If you’ve read any of the responses in this thread you’d understand why. It just makes everything more difficult. Why would anyone want that?

How much did Bornakk pay you to write this?

If I have to look for a mage in trade chat (it is always off btw because Blizzard has allowed to be toxic) and pay them to get me a port - the time that takes - I will just log off and not do the content. I don’t want to spend 15mins getting somewhere when there is the ability to take a HS to a city that has a portal that can get me there in 1 minute.

Mages have portals that they can use anywhere, that is their thing, not that they actually have portals.

Removing portals and making them go to out of the way places, like the new jade forest one, just hurts travel, it does not make it more enjoyable.

You are always free to run to your next spot if you want, don’t make us run and adjust to your game play.

We have already had flying taken away from us by the dev team that started in WoD and added back only by outrage and it is returned to us way way too late and through way too many invented time gates.

Don’t just make the game seem long and drawn out to increase play time, make it enjoyable to play. That means, for me, much better travel.

It doesn’t make the world feel bigger, it makes it feel smaller through isolation, I’m already an engineer, wear an argent dawn tabard, and carry Jaina’s locket, and I still pass through Legion Dalaran multiple times a day trying to get where I want to go for all the old content I run. If I was to run all the content I typically do almost every day without all the portals I use you are talking an hour or more added in travel time alone. There is no good reason to remove any portals and that’s why people have complained every time they’ve been removed in other hubs in the past. Anybody who says they don’t have a problem with it are the people who rarely use them, and the thought that it diminishes from a mage are ignoring that they get to use theirs from anywhere not a centralized hub. There is not a single upside to this portal room, its out of the way has limited destinations, and removes access to so much of the world that is often forgotten. Horrible idea.

He didn’t I’ve had this view for a long time. This isn’t “Portals of Warcraft” or “Instances of Warcraft”, it’s World of Warcraft. Removing city portals makes playing a Mage more valuable and desirable. This is a fantastic change. I explain why in a YouTube video I made as well if you don’t believe me.

Thats becoming very clear.
They seem to be ‘borrowing’ some ideas from MoP in BfA, but not quite creative enough to pull it off, then combined with a sadistic side that seems to enjoy irritating paying customers.

If one were writing a handbook on how to send a company directly to bankruptcy court, the first chapter would be filled with the crap theyve done to WoW since I started playing, minus the way they broke up professions by expansion. One of the few ‘beneficial’ things theyve done.

And yet there are people who play mages in this thread, who HATE the idea, and wouldn’t even want to play their mage. And their reasons are good.
