Well it’s a huge inconvenience to be in a raid without a warlock, but people still raid without them.
This is another issue that should be addressed. If they don’t want people hanging out in old content farming rare mounts, pets, and transmog forever, they should raise the drop rates so people can get their drops and move on with their wow lives.
Of course, Which is why i said is be alright with it because not everything needs to be handed to you. I like to work a bit for things sometimes
I have to agree that limiting convenience doesn’t make the world bigger, it just makes the world take longer to get to where you need to be. We wanted the portal room to clean up the mess of portals being here there and everywhere in Stormwind/Ogrimmar, not so their the only nonmage option.
It really seems like Blizzard is confusing active engagement with passive play, active engagement keeps me wanting to play, passive play makes me want to go to bed or do something else. Sitting on a flight path after taking a portal isn’t fun and the thrill of exploration wears off after the first couple goes, end of story.
Seriously! Back in -vanilla- WoW I literally had an addon (I forget the name but it was something simple like “flight timer”) so I could see how long a flight would take since we often had to fly via a gryphon/wyvern halfway across the continent to quest or raid. I wasn’t playing, I saw how much time I had and went to do something else while I was en route!
I recall some trips I made on Kalimdor that took upwards of 5-8 minutes. Sure, it was travelling across the entire bloody continent, but they could have easily shaved 1-2 minutes off that if they didn’t do curve, loop, show off the scenery I’ve seen 10.4 million times already … you get the picture.
The portals arent there for levelling, its for getting around old content quicker.
Wait a second… They removed the Shrine’s portals?.. Really? (I have not been on lately.)
They got rid of the yak? I actually liked him. And I don’t like most of the community managers, truth be told.
bornakk asking so many stupid questions its clearly a new CS Ai blizzard is doing smart learning on. not even human.
Traveling in WoW has never been difficult. It’s just a time waster.
Now we can waste more time and afk on flightpaths more when doing things in game.
I’m totally looking forward to having more down time when traveling on my non-mage characters /sarcasm
The way the “portal room” was presented initially versus what we are getting was a very poor way to do this. It was teased as a one-stop portal shop and now we’re finding out we are losing portals.
This is not going to make the world feel more alive. How is going afk on flightpaths for longer journeys going to make the game better? It’s bad enough with BfA that I always have my second monitor filled with other things to do during my forced down time.
Are you guys getting kickbacks from Youtube and Netflix for doing these kinds of changes? This feels like another WoD flying. If you want your world to be more alive and engaging tell the developers and designers to make more engaging content. Don’t keep forcing us to waste time doing or seeing the same thing for the 100th time.
I never understood why people try to reinvent the wheel simply for the sake of reinventing the wheel. If you want a the world to be more engaging or fun, do so by inventing mechanics to it, E.G have all buildings in cities contain interiors, make cities more sprawling, give some sort of player houses/guild housing that players/guilds can show off to friends/smaller set of people, or create some sort of land event related to the expansions such as a resupply convoy escort/attack, train robbery or naval engagement, whatever. Stop trying to force players to play a specific way simply because you think its fun that way.
Look, I personally love World Quests and find them relaxing in some weird way. My gf, that does WQs with me sometimes hates them and thinks I’m crazy for finding them relaxing but I do. There is nothing better than simply doing something mindless for 1 or 2 hours a day, without having to fully worry about life or anything. Does that mean I want everyone to do WQs and find the joy and relaxation in them? No of course not. People have different time investments and different metric of what they define as fun. I don’t think it is right if Blizzard forces everyone to WQs for neck levels/AP but I would be somewhat amused if they made the WQs more fun/engaging so that people want to do them, not because they have to.
Are you aware that they have already removed flight points from newly rolled characters? A new character doesn’t even have the flight points for capital cities anymore.
Portals to Blasted Lands and Outland are essential for leveling players.
I swear it’s like two different dev teams were used to make Legion and BfA.
Legion:
- Teleports EVERYWHERE. You never saw a single portal removed and a ton were added. The addition of the Flight Whistle and Dalaran Hearthstone were godsends and a great addition.
- No class buffs/debuffs means you can bring the player, not the class.
- A unique artifact for every spec (while leveling each one was very annoying esp in the early game, at least you didn’t need to go out and find multiple artifacts from drops)
BfA:
- No new teleports (besides getting back to Boralus/Dazar’alor from SW/Org), no new Hearthstone, and 2 continents means going out of your way to your faction’s boat (which idk about Boralus, but in Dazar’alor, it’s pretty inconvenient) to travel there.
- 3 Class Buffs, 2 Class Debuffs (which are more of a hindrance when you’re missing any of them than an actually fun thing)
- Azerite armor that’s obnoxious to get and you basically need a full set for each spec you play
Just to name a few things. Now we’re also losing portals which we have never lost (because it wasn’t hurting anyone), probably because WoW’s sub count is going down so hey, more time invested playing amirite?
yep, they let go of the good one and kept the… well this “person”…
That sucks. I mean, yeah, he was a CM, but he was relatively nice about it. Guess he was one of those 700-800 employees that Blizzard laid off.
“lol guys what’s the problem? why don’t you just play how I enjoy playing? ”
Honestly, it feels simultaneously sarcastic, snarky, oblivious, and dismissive every time I read one of Bornakk’s posts nowadays when he’s disagreeing with a MASSIVE amount of players. Giving us literally nothing but his own subjective feelings and asking us why we don’t feel the same, nothing of substance is said in those blue posts. It’s getting pretty sad and pathetic.
Everytime when I come to forums I feel sad knowing i’ll never see this glorious yak again.
can we get F’s in the chat?
What a big topic! I’m encouraged to see all the passion this brought from the playerbase.
My feedback is simply: portal room, great. But please don’t take away existing things we already enjoy.
Long-time players have formed extensive mental maps of the exact-fastest route to travel to a certain location, and without the current portal network as it is, I would feel lost and inconvenienced.
Put the portals back, now is definitely not the time to be condescending to the remaining playerbase.
Trying to inflate player playtime metrics for mog runners is such a scummy move.
