Just had a +5 key, overgeared it but just getting the weekly done, cruising to an easy 3 cheat and then the mage runs forward and pulls more? Like dude seriously does it matter if the run takes 15 minutes or 15 minutes and 10 seconds?
I could see if I was one packing but I was chain pulling like mad
Just stop healing them or taunting off them when clueless dps pull extra mobs especially in the portal room area of fall/rise or the last hallway of TOT. Not like the tank is deliberately waiting until our 23 stacks of 10% increased shadow damage falls off or anything … no you can’t add 12.527 key levels for this pull because your dps cds are up XD
I think i might be part of the problem because i not only tolerate ninja pulling, but encourage it as long as people don’t pull two deadly packs together.
If the content is easy and my Avenger’s Shield/Judgment is on cooldown, someone else might as well pull for me. I can pick it up through various means.
As a Destro Warlock with a tank going gogogo, about the only contribution I can really make outside of bosses is to pull more mobs, otherwise they don’t stop long enough for me to get my casts off, and when they do, they move 'em out of my AOE to the next pack anyway.
So, light my fanny on fire with Burning Rush and go grab some more.
You aren’t a problem in the slightest. Any even half decent tank just pulls things together and goes for it. The most fun runs I have had as a tank is when I get to do crazy pulls (whether intentional or unintentionally, by me or anyone else) and see how much I can tank.
The worst thing that can happen is that you die, say “oops, let’s do that again but with fewer mobs”, and go again. Folks who think that mentality is a “problem” are in all honesty the real problem.
Pull stuff without me once, shame on me I’ll go faster. Pull stuff without me twice, shame on you calm down. Pull stuff without me three times… I sit down and let YOU tank.
Why do you play as a tank in that case? This is common, this is the norm, this is part of what makes tanking fun to begin with. The whole “you pull it, you tank it” mentality is one of a naïve and childish behaviour.
Do you leave the moment anything goes wrong in any dungeon, because if so… why play as a tank? The tank’s job is effectively to fix pulls and boss positioning so things go more smoothly, as a general rule of thumb. If one doesn’t want to do that … then why tank in the first place?
It’d be akin to joining a group as a healer and outright refuse to heal, or to dps and refuse to do damage.
I have seen issues where mages , hunters , and ret paladins pull extra because the next pack is in range of an AOE.
On my ret , i can target the closest mob and still reach stuff i don’t think i should be able to.
Add in that Waycrest is or was, broken. GL on her mage , me on my ret , pulled the whole place from one room … through walls and the ceiling … literally a WTF , how dis we do that … 2 separate runs
You said “If I were a tank” so… you ain’t by your own words. Why have an opinion of something you have no particular aspiration of being?
I love tanking, easily the most fun I have when doing PvE content in-game, and been doing it since TBC. A proper tank looks at a group of mob and tries to control them, not dictate what others can or cannot do. If something doesn’t work out, then communicate it.
But this whole notion of “you pull it, you tank it” is genuinely just childish and nothing else.
Because not all tanks are comfortable with extra mobs all the time. There may be a reason they didn’t pull an extra pack.
Perhaps the tank is learning.
Perhaps the tank knows there’s mobs in the next group that will cause problems for the group.
I go at a pace I’m comfortable with, if I wanted to go faster I would. If the group finds my pace too slow, they can find another tank.
If someone else pulls for me, and I’ve asked them to stop and they refuse, I’m out. I have no time for people that can’t respect a simple request.
If dps want the tank to go their speed, then why aren’t they the ones playing the tank class? Oh yeah, because most people don’t want to…
If the group is capable of pulling big I’m all for it, but most of the time some yahoo dps is trying to pull for me, it just ends up in a wipe because they don’t know what they were doing and aren’t interrupting, cc’ing, or anything to begin with.
