I’m not sure why that would be a mistake. It’s not like this was a brand new thing and they are populated with people that enjoy them as they are.
I hope they expand this free move to all pvp servers, as it is clear that there were people that made their own mistake in not doing adequate research prior to investing in their characters on the wrong type of server.

Because then you’re just playing on a pve server. If I want to camp low lvls In Redrige when I’m bored why shouldn’t I be allowed to do it?
You knew what it was when you rolled a PvP server.
I’m not against the transfers but if blizzard is going to allow this than they need to at least be upfront with the PvP community and let them know that PvP is not something they care about along with that also means they don’t care if the PvP servers die eventually leading into merging with PvE servers. Because that’s ultimately what’s going to happen

If they had not locked the PVE servers I would be very against this, but in the world I can tell so many do not want or enjoy pvp. I rolled PVP since the start and will contiune to stay. The ones forced should be allowed to leave, They know when a char was created though so only when PVE options wore locked should thouse chars be allowed to leave. Only the ones with a possiblity to have been forced to play with us PVPers. If you rolled pvp when there were other options No that char should not a get a free jump off. Learn your lesson go reroll.
They wouldn’t even see them in Warmode. The only other players they would encounter are other players in Warmode. (Just like a PvP server)
People who are against it are just malding that they wouldn’t be able PK people even when they’re not in the mood to PvP or “Get PvP’d by a Skull”.

Half the fun of a pvp server is not being able to turn it off. It’s having your plans interrupted and doing something unexpected.
Yes, it’s the frustration of being camped at times. It’s the overcoming this unexpected obstacle. It’s even sometimes turning the game off and doing something different. It’s the acceptance of not being in total control.
The opt in/out feature takes all that away, as for sure… I’d opt out, be bored of the game, and go play something else.
You could just spend your whole time in Warmode, along with the other people who enjoy
Nobody would be forcing you out of Warmode.
It’s literally “Play the way you want to play, and still have plenty of people to group with for group content.”

The griefers can’t stand it. The problem is there is no more room already on Wild Growth. War Mode may be the only solution to avoid extreme sever imbalance. I’ll be transferring 4 alts even if I have to play on AU server.
War Mode would solve all problems. A lvl 9 camps the ash incursion killing all horde with the guards. A lvl 9 alliance that has 2500 kills there. So … your guards are fixing incursions. War Mode would.
No matter, I’m taking my alts off.
