Stop making profession items Bind on Pickup

I was excited reading about the new profession gear Blizz is adding until I realized they are bop

This is a MMO, you should be encouraging players to trade

I agree. The waylaid chest should be able to trade as I would focus on waylaid chest that will benefit my profession. Thus avoiding the AH.

this is the only item locked behind BoP… everything else is able to be traded. what’s the problem

The only way this is balanced is if engi bombs also lose their profession requirement. In OG 1.x, production professions are a massive liability. Giving them something BoP to compete with Engi isn’t the end of the world.

Aren’t some higher level stuff in classic BOP too? I thought all the equipment crafting one at least some BOP gear?

I can see why people will see as this is a pain, but it’s also an incentive to do the crafting. They should make crafting better (the retail version is tedious and not fun from my perspective so NO I do not want to make it like retail), and more fun.

I recall I certain goggles in engineering at high levels was something engineers went to.

Perhaps thinking should be removed from game, why not think about improving it?

Fundamentally I agree. However, given the general classic propensity for pay to win, I can see why Blizzard made this BoP. I have a feeling that if they did otherwise, it would just be something else driving RMT.

They should honestly make 2 versions of the crafted.

One is bop as a benefit of running the profession, and cheaper to make.

The other is boe and costs more to make.

Think wotlk leg armors for LW.

I was referring to the void-touched gear there’s 4 pieces which are bop aren’t there? At least that’s what I’m seeing.

The problem is they’re actually nice pieces of gear which you should be able to trade to other players.

I’m actually in support of this. Maybe a secondary profession where you can learn to use engineering items but you cannot make them.

Lionheart, titanic leggings, devilsaur…I mean there are so many useful BoEs

I don’t mind a few things here and there which are profession only but I think it should lean into BoEs to encourage trading as much as possible.

Blues maybe…

But aren’t we talking about Epics here? What would be so epic if everyone had access to it? I know “Epic” loot has no to little meaning in retail but this is classic.

Are we really going to make this about the color that the text is in? Turn them blue if you want. The stats on them and the level they’re at don’t really justify them being purple.

Lionheart, Tianic, plenty of other epics which are BoE. Anyway I think that these are arbitrary reasons for deciding to make something BoP which don’t really make sense.

But wouldn’t epic items have better stats than a blue? It’s not about a color of item but have item worth taking up the profession to get to the bop items.

For me, in my opinion, it would give me as more an incentive to level up blacksmithing for that item. Also if you draw more of a crowd to try something, more input would be given on how to make it better. The incentive has to be good in order for it be worth getting.

Your opinion is fine too, I’m just giving you my perspective too. Also it seems to me that it feels as though professions became almost useless, though I could be wrong.

Not a bad idea but it needs to be MUCH cheaper in order to incentivize it.

It wasn’t due to RMT. It was because they needed to make crafting professional competitive with engineering on people’s mains. In classic Era, nothing competes with engi (unless you’re a warlock and need to keep wearing bloodvine through the game cause you can’t get hit otherwise)

I found this really stupid I leveled as an Engineer and now I find to get my BiS I need to throw that away and relevel. This is not a good interaction.

There are bombs that can be used without being an engi.

It’s a reward for people that level their professions. People who do this SHOULD be able to craft exclusive gear to reward them for it.

stupid suggestion. There are 2 million items that are tradeable. There should be some high end BoP stuff to encourage people up professions and make em stand out.

That’s just not true. There are plenty of other ways to get gear. I do understand your point though.

Is is true void touched items are BoP and crafted, if you are not a tailor you cannot obtain them.

That’s when you find something else to wear. Anyone obsessing over BiS in phase one with only one raid should relax.
