Re-write the quest. Also, change the item we’re supposed to loot.
The illegal poaching of elephants and harvesting of ivory in Africa is a ginormous ethical and legal problem that in no way shape or form should be glorified in a video game.
I absolutely loathe when this quest is up and I have to go out and kill elephant-like creatures just to harvest their ivory. To the point now where I don’t even want to do it despite the fact this is a video game.
Stop glorifying illegal ivory harvesting and poaching. Take that part out of the game by rewriting this quest, or perhaps just getting rid of the quest altogether since there’s several other NR JC dailies already that can take its place and provide the exact same reward.
This is a fantasy video game where we are mass murdering sociopathic heroes.
Should we stop killing boars for their livers (gods knows how they don’t have one) and killing turtles so they can make it to the water?
I know this is likely a obvious troll post but for the sake of the few out there who really might feel this way… If we altered this quest, we would have to alter all quests. Do you have any idea, how many quests there are, to kill an animal of some kind, for an item? You do realize, even the most staunchly naturalists, Night Elves, believe in a balance of nature, and do kill creatures to both preserve, and to utilize their resources?
And the reply of ‘It’s wasteful to just grab the ivory’ you grab all sorts of loot not strictly related to the quest, fangs, organs, meats, teeth, bone, hide, etc.
Real life exploitation and poaching is disgusting, especially if the body is wasted just for some luxury item, its a serious problem that demands to be addressed, but its quite a stretch to suggest this glorifies it.
Yup, it’s rough watching that kind of thing. They know exactly what’s up and it sucks knowing there’s scum out there hunting them down just for their tusks.
I have a couple of pieces of scrimshaw art in a case on my shelves. Not the fake kind, but on whale bone and ivory. My great, great grandfather was a whaler out of New England, he made them, as for the ivory piece, been in the family for a long long time.
bruh you really gonna complain about ivory in a MURDER SIMULATOR where literally almost every request/quest we recieve from any source involves KILLING UNTOLD MILLIONS OF CREATURES, MANY SENTINENT, MANY EVEN GOOD?
exactly, almost all video games are murder simulators when you want to be sensational. getting upset about one kind of murder out of all the other murdering going on in the game is just hand wringing and virtue signaling.
