No, because we don’t have to use a new character to level up a new class, and Shadowlands’ story is a hot mess, continuing the several hot messes that came before it. Notice how people are clamoring for the ability to skip all the story stuff for their alts in WoW. Nice self-own, fren.
That’s fair, but the point I was making, is that story makes the game better, but doesn’t keep people playing. So, while important, it doesn’t trump gameplay/character progression. In my opinion, even in its weakened state, WoW is still better.
The guy who wrote the news articles on this website, who was exposed for being racist and sexist just today. He’s selling all his Blizzard merchandise now, after he got fired.
Blizzard set it up so people often cancel, so they are not automatically billed, but continue playing. So it doesn’t mean anything if you cancel, nor is it “voting with your wallet.”
Like a lot of people probably do the six month thing, for a perk of a mount/pet, then they cancel and then the resub for the six months again for the next perks.
So that isn’t a “metric” that is used. They use metrics like amount of “daily users”, “monthly users”, playtime hours, etc. and so on. So they don’t care if 3 million people “cancel” (which only cancels automatic billing again) the sub; they only care that after those people cancel they still add to the “use” metrics.
