Stop Giving Away Shop Items for Free

Why on earth would I want to continue spending $25 on shop mounts if you’re just going to give them away for free in a month-long promotion?

Why on earth would I continue spending $25 on shop mounts when you just keep giving them away for free on the Trading Post?

Thanks for telling me that I should just stop buying stuff from the shop and spend my money elsewhere. I’ll do just that.

Hey, if Blizzard wants to train their customers to stop buying items in the Shop, I’m all for that. I’d rather the Shop didn’t exist in the first place, so this seems like the next best thing.

“How dare they give me something for free when I could be paying good money for it!”

You don’t think they have their number crunching goblins looking at this?

This mount may be a low seller. So they give it away for free. More people get it. Then when it’s not free anymore, folks might use it and people who didn’t get it free see it being used and then they buy it.

Hm, reminds me of a priest I’ve seen but slightly different…

Nobody is telling you to buy that or I’m sorry, “claim it” because it’s not free.

What trading post mount was added to the trading post that costed money? from what I recall none of them were.

There you go. You do you bub.

Take your free item and throw it on the ground….

Celestial Steed and the 15th anniversary mounts were once cash shop items. I think also Tyriel’s Charger before it was a quest grant.

true, but that also came several times well two.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha.

But seriously why would you EVER buy store mounts? Theyre all mega lame just by virtue if being on the store.

Guess his other 55 DK got burned. Another one for the account wide ignore.

That would be nice.

Every shop item is “free” if you earn enough WoW gold.

You do realize that Prime isn’t free barring the burner account free-trial exploitation right lmao. Get over yourself man, I own a Magic Rooster that costs $1000+ for an unscratched card now and I couldn’t care less if they gave it away as the next Prime mount or on the Trading Post. I own several shop mounts as well and feel the same way about them too lol

They dont. Western MMO makers have never learned the Microtransaction market which is why horribly designed games in Korea can make far more on theirs in terrible games. Somehow the makers of Atlantica Online was making 100s of millions a year in their terrible game from the cash shop and did it because they understood what the word Micro means.

Make your mount $25 and rely on cows which are about what? 1/1000th of the playerbase?

Make it $10 and its more like 1/250th. It will actually make a little bit more.

Make it $5 and suddenly almost every player will view it as something that may be worth it. In the end you end up making far more because your possible buyer pool is obscenely higher. They also know that the COST to create the item? the 1 time cost to pay a person to place the item into the shop is LOW and easily recoverable.

Western game companies do not do business like this. They try to figure out the max cost they can use and still have buyers because they think short term, not long term.

This is why Nexon has been larger than Blizzard for almost 2 full decades. They know the business they are in and Microtransactions have been their revenue source for longer than WoW has been around.

I think I bought that mount a few years ago when it came out. There have been 2 similar drops since then (BFA Arathi and Sinfall). I have all 3 and never use them. Dont care if they give it away
