Stop forcing "current content" leveling for 71-80

Agree with OP. Its World of Warcraft not Current Expansion of Warcraft. Stop limiting us in the leveling.

To be fair, for the time you would casually spend to level ONE alt up in most expacs, you can get around five up in TWW

I agree as well.

More options the better.

Maybe as an achievement perk for getting our first 5, 80s and have the 25% xp boost we could be allowed to level to 80 outside of TWW.

It’s just the way the game is now. Back in vanilla, BC, and maybe Wrath, leveling was the game and current content was a bonus. Now Blizzard wants to warp speed you through the levels because current content is the game, which gets old quick since there is not much to do.

Remember what it used to take to get a freaking crappy low level special mount 15 years ago? You had to actually work at things, but now everything is handed to you. Time spent leveling 64 characters would be way more fun if it took you the same amount of time to level 10 characters. Let’s face it though, not everyone has the time and Blizzard will attract more new revenue with current content. We live in a world where instant gratification wins so the massive world of Azeroth is basically useless at this point.

I just want to be able to do any dungeon old exps and queue for multiple of them at once, similar to how we can queue for all the different raid levels, pvp types and a dungeon runs at the same time except que for BFA, legion, and df dungeons.

Imagine being able to walk up to little Chromie chromes and selecting “Pandaria Remix” as your level to 80 option.

MIND BLOWN!@!!!#$!

Not gunna happen.

Just an FYI you can freeze a characters XP at lvl 69 to keep from being forced into the next expansion. I have several characters dedicated to being frozen in previous content so I can go do it whenever I want a break from current expansion stuff.

Having said that, I agree, Chromie time should be an option at very least for max level characters. Being forced to do certain content sucks a lot, and there is quite literally no reason to stop world scaling at 70 other than to do just that. If they are dead set on 70-80 leveling being in Khaz Algar, at least open Chromie time back up once we hit 80, going to old zones and one shoting everything and having to wait for events to do older dungeons is a bummer.

Yep.

See BFA and 15 th anniversary. Many of us enjoyed the return of AV leveling. Too many…it seems. PVP leveling has not been seen since in retail.

Shame too. BFA KAV leveling is what had many like me make wth alts a few times. Run that through BFA proper? Hell no.

For my horde it was loved for 1 reason. THey cna’t be blamed for the tree. Went to AV at level 60. Left at 120 ding. they touched no tree. they have an alibi. they never left Altarac Valley till 120.

edit: now Ivus may have been touched…but it be alliances fault for waking them up in the first place lol. They should have defended them better.

I never understood why they felt the need to make us have to level through the current expansion MULTIPLE times on alts from 71 to 80 instead of giving us options to utilize Chromie Time.

I like having more options available to me when I level, less burn out when I don’t have to see the same 4 zones for 10 levels unless I feel like spamming Delves or Dungeons.

They’ve introduced a variety of options to make leveling alts more friendly, this should apply to where we can level as well.

Why do you use timewalking?

Just travel normally to all the areas and quest there, I am doing this all the time. I think I touched Chromie time maybe once or twice since they introduced her.

If you want to stay somewhere longer, hit XP stop and keep questing.

Blizz would know better than most of us that there are maybe 50 people on the PLANET with that many characters on one account. Since you are obviously the exception, and not the rule, maybe you should just get yourself a 2nd account… or a partner to spend time with outside of Azeroth. Just sayin.

I unironically think this is the future of TW/CT. Remix was such a better levelling experience than TW is, which is still a confusing mess of phasing (eg for years there’s been a bug, still unfixed, where you can’t progress the Mount Hyjal quests if you’re on a certain quest line in BFA). Legion or even BFA is a pretty solid levelling experience. Sandboxing that would actually be a good thing.

The issue with the is you’re cut off from a lot of the content in DF effectively if you’re 69 instead of 70. You certainly take a massive ilvl hit. But they won’t let us XP lock at 70 because the level scaling is so incredibly busted. This is partly because Blizzard made the very weird decision to start TWW duneon scaling at like ilvl 408 even though a normal DF dungeon will give you ilvl 467 gear at 70. Like, that’s just bad design.

But there is something separate to XP locking which is Chromie Time access. Some time in DF the yupped the CT max level from 59 to 60 and it was a great change, although weirdly it had a completley different set of prompts from Chromie to get to. Like, why? CT isn’t available at 70. It probably will be at some point. I’ll guess 11.1.5.

That’s easy: metrics. Behind the scenes, they’re tracking everything the player base as a whole does. How many BGs or arenas are queued, M+ dungeons done, for what keys, what raids are done at each difficulty and so on. Everything. This includes hours played in the current expansion’s content.

So how you track “success” is with metrics showing engagement with the current content. Thing slike nerfing TW XP at 71+ are basically cooking the books for this.

Blizzard’s goal is to maximize hours played in current content without that player cancelling their sub. They’ll compare that to previous expansions and look at trends through the patch to see player drop off to see if it’s more or less than expected and so on.

Showing engagement with the current expansion is how various teams will pat themselves on the back and demonstrate that they deserve raises and promotions for doing a good job.

Why would you stop levelling at 30 in Searing Gorge when you can keep getting XP there til 60 with CT? Like that makes no sense to me.

That’s funny. There are a lot of people with a ton of alts.

It is so fast to level off gathering but OP doesn’t do professions

Because if you split the playerbase into different expansions you ruin the current expansion for anyone wanting to do group content levelling up in that expansion. Plus they like to see their cities and zones occupied in current content.

its pretty hilarious that theyre so free and easy with leveling farming nodes, then get all twitchy stingy in follower dungeons lol.

My problem is I came into TWW burned out from rolling a few new alts after running so many in the first place.

I love TWW. in my top two expansions, Id say. But that ilvl grind had already burned my brain by the time TWW started, so Im having to break from it and just messaround in old content for a while to stop thinking about it.

Yet you’ll:

over and over again?

Checks out

Im sure this is only about the $$$ for blizzard.
They know many of us want to roll alts. Sometimes Ive got 4 new ones running at the same time. All these races to play…with all those classes…many of us are gonna want to do it all over again frequently.

I will say this for blizzard…theyre no where near as bad as ESO is where alts are concerned.
The cap could be doubled and Id be happier with it, but even where its at isnt the end of the world.
Ive got all 8 WoW slots filled on my main Bnet (this isnt that account) so I can pay for one of them and add more chacters there if I want.
dont need to yet, I did some house cleaning and parked a number of alts I wasnt likely gonna use any time soon…or again…so I have a few empty slots to last for a long while.

i actually had 4 characters total but they had this thing called Pandasomething and you could start at level 10 (any new character created) and zoom to 34-36 in about 20 minutes and than go in raids and under 1 hour you could get a max character (70). I did that until the game said i couldnt make anymore characters on my account so I am in the same boat as this guy (whatever the max characters are on 1 account - thats how many 70s i have now) lol and im sitting at 7 or 8 80s but its not a terrible grind, just kinda boring… we need a Legion SoD realm now so we can zoom to 80s in 1 hour haha
