So what you’re telling me is, if Blizzard removed the Blueberry KSM mount, Blizzard would spend thousands of man-hours designing an entirely new dungeon to keep us entertained in S4?
I just… I don’t get it. Do you hear what you sound like?

Quoting this little fact nugget for truth.
Limited time items are just fine. It’s not overboard. And you have, in reality, loads of time to get things done. I push duelist on multiple classes. I get KSM done. I heroic raid and shoot for AOTC (although this expansion being particularly bad has hurt me in that last department).
You have time. You are capable. You can do it. Stop trying to sway design (which is fine) as opposed to just adapting and managing time a bit better.
I said it was uncertain. If you can’t follow a conversation thread, as you are quickly proving, perhaps I’m wasting my time on you
Are you telling me you’re going to be entertained in m+ just because said mount exists?
We either get the mount, or we don’t get the mount.
At least if S4 sucks there will be some level of engagement with it.
True, but FOMO isn’t required to make that happen.
Give actual vet rewards to encourage loyalty.
Oh wait, that would make everyone cry too cause they are entitled to everything, instantly.
They are not unique to M+ though, so my statement is correct, so you are misquoting me.
As of SL S3 maybe. PvP has gone through various iterations.
Seasons that had craftable PvP sets leaving only 1/2 sets not being time-gated. To the changes to vicious mounts which I don’t believe were around since vanilla.
Neither is pointing to other rewards that are completely unrelated - mr. 174 mounts in SL (or whatever it was).
Agreed.
One word for you: Plastics
The mounts will become later, as is normal. Vicious mounts have a brief period of time where they’re unavailable and then become later available on a vendor during the next expansion. We saw this with the BFA mounts. SL’s vicious mounts will become available at a later date, probably during the .1 patch of Dragonflight. It’s gonna be fine.
The 1/3 sets you’re mentioning is an 1800 set which is easily achievable on all classes and is something which just requires a little bit of time investment and proper coordination. It is meant to be a time sensitive trophy motivating people to playing the ladder.
KSM mounts have been time sensitive since their incarnation and are M+'s version of a low time sensitive reward which can be gotten through some mild coordination. There’s not enough time sensitive items in the game though to warrant this whole big deal from the OP. There’s very little in the way of time sensitive rewards.
The only kind of FOMO that should exist is cyclical FOMO, where things come back once a year or whatever. Like holiday events.
FOMO has been a thing since the days of classic eras and modern era.
Why would they do something that adversely affects token sales, and deflates the MAU numbers?
I remember when Prot warrior became a FOMO thanks to shield slam being OP then again in WoD for glad stance. People would tell me i was playing it because it was fomo. Even though i had been maining it since wotlk for pvp and pve.
Let people play their fomo, it always them to enjoy diversity. Im personally burnt out with my class
There’s so much non fomo stuff you’re being a little ridiculous. I think the fomo stuff is fine as is. I’d actually like them to add mythic raid mods to the list. Let people farm heroic versions later not mythic.
Exploit early and exploit often!
With that said,
Anybody hear AMC joined the Russell 1000 and is about to short squeeze to the moon next week?
I too wish they’d stop doing so much FOMO and have heard more players say they dislike it than like it. However, I don’t think they ever will stop There is most likely some truth to it helping them get more hours played, more months paid for, and even more tokens bought.
This is just a cognitive bias and self-proclaimed thesis. In reality people don’t want to play all the time because the game is very time-consuming or they want to enjoy other things without being bind to this game world. Unlike other MMOs, WoW has one of the most severe burn out phases you can experience in modern games.
I already told it before: You have been conditioned into this mindset and thinking outside of the box is not very comprehensible for these players because they cannot imagine a better system because it still falls below their “when it works it works” mantra. You neglect a changing player base and the WoW-team is very aware of this.
You can still get FOMO-stuff in this game. The Brawler Guild is an example of this, where you can earn both rewards from Legion and Battle for Azeroth.
This is not mutual or an exclusive connection.
You are missing the point. People want to look a very specific way. Denying them their fantasy is never good. I remember not trying out SMITE because I couldn’t earn these Avatar-skins anymore, therefore not every giving the game a chance.
Of course it leads to burn out which why it is a toxic gameplay loop. How many people felt forced to earn the 5m for the AH mount? I knew a few people from my friend list who did it and stopped playing after that, haven’t come back yet.
Yes and No. When it comes to exploitation of the players, it certainly hits a sweet spot sometimes. But it certainly feels bad as a human being to have more stuff compared to others which reflects our 1st and 2nd class hierarchy from different countries. Some suffer, others live in wealth and have everything in various regions and countries.
Our mentality is very twisted as a race.
