I think pushing the whole SoD is dead thing is dumb, but I think OP, Aguy, myself, et al. just really want a fresh classic server. Arguing that a fresh classic server would be unpopular is just as dumb as saying that SoD is dead.
I think a lot of people, myself included, would like a fresh classic and don’t understand why that’s so hard to do lol. Just spin up a new server. If you like SoD more, play SoD. If you like fresh classic more, play fresh. No need to get all tribalistic about it.
inb4 “just go play era hur dur”. Come on, if you’re going to say that, you’re either too dumb to argue with or you’re being disingenuous. Fresh and era would be two totally different experiences. On one, you can find leveling groups, enjoy actual progression, and start with a fresh economy. On the other, everyone is BIS’ed AF, rich AF, and the leveling content is probably pretty dead.
Why such a weird pushback on getting a fresh classic? Once again, if you don’t like it, don’t play it lol.

That’s evidence that it is not as popular as you think it is.
It’s practically free to them by comparison, I just don’t think there’s enough interest.
(especially for the completely nochanges server, since they made the modifications they did due to player feedback.)
They can’t monetize Classic as well as they can everything else. We’re one step from token in sod, I swear.
They’re also deluded and completely out of touch, which is why the game from 15 years prior is their greatest success in a decade.
Pretty sure the only one seething here is you since Blizzard won’t cater to your crying minority by not adding more “fReSh” for you to consume and get bored with in 2 months.

Classic release would be everyone rishing to 60 in a week. Farming bis/pre bis grind and turn into a gold buying palooza and mage boost epidemic. People would get over the hype and it would die.

I don’t think that SoD is dead and this is the forum for it, so making a thread calling it dead shouldn’t happen. So I don’t agree with the thread being made. The OP has made threads like this before. I didn’t want to engage but reading some of these replies is a bit annoying. Although I get that this is the forum for SoD and this is the place to be a fan of it.
I’ve wanted fresh like Classic 2019 and have been pretty patient with it. The other WoW versions just haven’t clicked for me. I don’t mind Era, I’d rather play that than any other WoW version, but would still like to do the fresh thing again and this is not a matter of not doing things before because I binged so hard on Classic 2019 that it’s almost embarrassing, I have zero regrets for that.
My reasons are also unrelated to any that are projected onto “Classic players” or “Freshies”. The only people who have understood and explained it in a way that I can relate to are others who play for the same thing. Whenever I hear someone claim it’s about push over bosses or whatever it’s a big eye roll because that’s unrelated to why I play WoW. I just like the community aspect of WoW, complete with the friendships, the drama, and the rivalries, and find that Vanilla/Classic 2019 is the best for that.
I’ve also supported an Era server for TBC and Wrath, even though these aren’t my favorite versions.
I think that everyone should get the version of WoW that they want and that turning this all into a popularity contest is dumb.

Yeah because it was released 15 years later and we were hype af for it. We’ve been there and done that. Im a classic enjoyer and have played PS and era, tbc, wotlk, SoM, and HC. We saw what it became and no one wants to play on a dead server. The servers will die after everyone hits 60. Especially after playing SoD idk if I could go back to classic its nice playing class with new abilities.
