Because a lot of people came back for a nostalgia fix.
Vanilla classic saw less participation every phase and the vast majority of people jumped to TBC.

4 million.

I’m so glad Blizzard’s internal numbers are available now to make it unambiguously obvious how incorrect you are.
Vanilla classic saw less participation every phase and the vast majority of people jumped to TBC.
The vast majority of people jumped to TBC because there was no Vanilla anymore.
Classic had just ended and there were no fresh servers of it, so of course most of the people who played that went into TBC.
Great logic Einstein.

If you look at the sub counts, there was an absolute PLUMMET following TBC prepatch. Entire Classic community quit due to the boost and cash shop.

Right that’s a lot.
And exactly like you’d expect with a nostalgia product it had a steadily decreasing player base.

God forbid they understand this insanely reasonable explanation. There isn’t even anything wrong with nostalgia wearing off, it’s normal.

Yea, i assume most people who went into TBC just had never experienced how bad it was the first time. Absolute game killing, falsely so called expansion.
But regardless, he is acting like there was a Classic available at that time, and phase 6 Era servers clearly shouldnt count. And im not biased, because i cloned my character. Era is just awful.
It had an initial drop off like all expansions do and then remained steady until TBC prepatch. You’re simply incorrect.
The dude does not make good faith arguments.
Can you just stop doing seasons and release an unaltered, UNALTERED fresh Classic? The only version of the game worth playing.
you forget how dead the servers were after MC.

They were not.

It sounds like what you’re saying is people had no particular attachment to vanilla specifically and just wanted new content.
You must be joking.

People were largely raid logging by BWL and there were noticeably less people in BWL and then less in AQ and then even less in NAxx.
It sounds like what you’re saying is people had no particular attachment to vanilla specifically and just wanted new content.
People love Vanilla. A permanent Phase 6 with Chronoboons is not Vanilla.

Leave it to you to try to project some ulterior motivation on 4 million people.
If that were the case, why was it SO MUCH more popular than any new retail expansion they’ve launched in the past decade?

People love va nilla. A permanent Phase 6 with Chronoboons is not Vanilla.
Or what we saw is that there just isn’t a large population that wants permanent vanilla with #nochanges since it wasn’t that great.

What ulterior motive we literally all saw how many people pickd TBC over staying in vanilla.
The game was finished dude you cannot be this dense.
Go ahead and answer this

It was pretty great, even though minmaxers, addons and discord already harmed the game significantly.
