Stop designing content around addons

I’ve noticed that mythic + as well as raiding is looking to be more dificult across the board in tww which mostly as a pug player is a really bad omen by the way.

But even non pug players more elite players like max he recently released a video about what is potentially the hardest fight he and his guild have ever had to do that being mythic silken court. He said there were simply to many overlapping mechanics that even for a top guild like them… it was overwhelming.

Kind of seems like some of these fights are bordering on not even possible without addons helping feed you knowledge of whats actually happening and i think thats a pretty bad thing.

Can you give an example of some recent encounters that required addons?

Its been a growing issue. You have to understand though. 25 odd years ago a team that made a custom map called dota went to blizz and asked them to develop their game with them.

Blizz laughed at them telling them they would never make it in this business.

That blizzard employee has been seething for almost three decades now trying to force a esports of their own.

None of them expliclity require addons of course. But in terms of sheer complexity it seems even with people who have a full ui of addons feeding them information its still overload.

Imagine people who have none those poor souls trying to navigate something like that fight.

And as far as an example in my opinion council of dreams is a pretty mechanic heavy fight as well as the boss before fyrakk.

Stop designing addons around content :rage:.

The fights are harder because people have kept getting better at the game.

I’m a MUCH better player now than I was 2 years ago. And I was better 2 years ago than I was 5 years ago. And I was better 5 years ago than I was 10 years ago.

Aren’t you?

As people get better at the game, the encounters have to get harder to keep up.

Addons have nothing to do with it.

Okay, what do you need an addon to do in Council? Or Tindral? I can’t think of anything for either.

(I CAN name an encounter that needed an addon, but it was back during BfA and I can’t think of once since.)

Seems like they’ve outpaced even the best players. so i don’t know about that.

That isn’t really something to aspire towards. It just creates a ever shrinking pool of people. I also refuse to believe people did mythic echo without a weakaura.

LOL the expansion isn’t even out yet.

Initial test versions are not the final versions.

That’s what testing is FOR.

Of course people use weakauras, the main purpose of weakauras is to customize your user interface.

If you’re referring to the BDG hearts map thing, I’m firmly convinced that it did more harm than good. I eventually just told people to ignore it and we used a much simpler method that worked way better.

People over-complicate things. Apparently folks use an assignment weakaura on Igira, for spears? What the hell for!??

Examples:
Among Us game Lords of Dread
Jailer Bombs
Fyrakk Intermission assignments.
Fyrakk Break Assignments Phase 2
Smolderon Seeking Inferno
Echo of Neltharion Volcanic Heart

I’m sure someone will chime in “My elite gamer guild doesn’t use these!” but I could easily show 30 videos of guilds each all using these Weak Auras. You’d be hard pressed to find 5 guilds that don’t.

A simpler method…sure… what was that method by the way to get multiple people postioned near perfectly in I think it was 4s? Without over lapping any?

What did you need an addon to do, for this? The raid stacks, anyone who can see dreadlord wings moves out (because they’re either a dreadlord or a decoy), and those people figure out who the dreadlords are.

This was doable without an addon, but the main problem here wasn’t addons, it was that Jailer was a really, really, really dumb fight.
“Let’s make an encounter on a catwalk of pits and have 3 different knockback mechanics,” said nobody with a brain, ever.

Same as above. Doable, you’d just assign left/right sides (as you do WITH an addon, already) and have 2 rings each side, people with fire go inner and shadow outer. Then count your position in the order and go from there.

Most people just playground these anyway, it’s not a big deal (they don’t even have their healers hit the macro at all).

I can’t speak to this one, but the problem here is that it’s a stupid private mechanic so you’re supposed to coordinate with other people BUT THE GAME HIDES FROM YOU WHO ELSE HAS THE MECHANIC.
Private mechanics were supposed to reduce addon usage but did the opposite. They’re stupid and should be eliminated.

As I said above, the BDG map thing was counterproductive.

I’m sure you could find a hundred guilds using the Igira spears weakaura, but it’s completely unnecessary.

Hm? You could overlap them, you were meant to, venn diagram them.

Anyway, rather than have the different numbered spots each time, in different orders, we just went with “first goes to front left, then go clockwise from there”.

Easy and simple.

Im extremely skeptical that would work but I was raiding with potatoes that tier and had almost negative healing so my experience while roughly around the same time as your kill could of been drastically different.

Like I said, people overcomplicate things.

One of us. One of us. One of us.

But they can get them. It’s not like it’s some super secret hidden thing that people don’t have access too.

You could get 90% of the guilds using the WAs for those to stop by increasing the duration of the debuff by ~2 seconds.

Or, in the case of Echo of Neltharion, tune down the wall break damage so that breaking extra walls was a viable strategy.

I’m glad that you think it is, but trust me, it really isn’t.

Problem is imo, Blizzard is actually more designing the content to be mostly for the top % of players, instead of everyone. And yes, I know, everyone can do the top content, but not everyone has the time.

They need to focus more on the content being for everyone again, and really start rewarding everyone just for putting in the time to play the game. Basically, going back to TBC/Wrath times. Yes, those 2 expansions did have its problems too, but not talking about the problems.
