thanks to covid lockdowns and nothing else to do.
Is dragonflight unpopular? I see no shortage of people on when i play. This expansion has been much nicer than shadowlands was.
It also released in winter.
Once summer time came along our raid went from having way too much interest with over 30 people signing up (had to ask some people to sit some weeks), to about 15 regulars.
Just because you are tired of hearing it or in denial, that doesnât make it any less true. Shadowlands did an insane amount of damage to the game, and that was before the drama unfolded at Blizzard itself. A lot of people are gone and never coming back. DF was never going to sell as well as a result, though I still feel that this expansion has been a step in the right direction overall.
lmaoâŠgame is deadâŠbut Im in Valdrakken right this second and its the most PACKED Ive seen it since the expansion went live. lol
I quit because Choreghast, and im sure plenty of people did the same.
Shadowlands=Choreghast the worst WOW experience I ever had and only came back cause new class. if no new class I would have skipped it.
DF isnât perfect by any stretch but in a lot of ways itâs a huge step up from the last two expansions; Weâre generally not obliged to work with some obtuse system or the other that is going to be abandoned in a patch, never to be heard from again, the writing has some really good beats despite itâs more mellow tone and the overhaul to crafting has made it more deep and nuanced then it has been in a long, long time.

No, itâs widely considered an excellent expansion. Raid participation is lower than previous expansions but they may be due to m+ being more rewarding.
Dragonflight is fun!! blizzard followed numerous recomendations to make wow not.a second career. Apparently OP needs structure and cant just explore the game.
It seems they decided that - as we so often hear in the forums as a reason why Blizzard should make a game that they know a large part of their playerbase isnât going to like - âyou canât please everybodyâ, and thought long and hard about who they wanted to be their core audience. Those are the people who are very happy. The people who didnât play like their chosen core audience does are less happy. Many of them left over being bored or not liking the content they were expected to do.
I think they were expecting millions of new and returning players to suddenly become esports fanatics who were eager to spam mythic+ like a second job. Once a week, then log off until next week.
It is what it is.
Iâm sorry but to say Shadowlands didnât do almost permanent damage to WoW is just wrong. A lot of people left and just never came back.
Dragonflight was positively received at the start, at least in comparison to Shadowlands. Know what else also happened during Shadowlands? Other MMOs started getting popular again from the influx of WoW players trying new games.
Some of those people came back. A lot of them did not.
The story has been Disney level writing since WC3. The whole Arthas storyline was extremely derivative and clichĂ©. The reality is that WoW has always been on par with Disney Channel writing. It does have some cool moments here and there thoughâŠ
Dragonflight is an absolute bomb. Probably one of the lowest selling and worst retention rates out of all the expansions(of course theyâll give some word salad earnings call numbers to make it sound good until you read the fine print of exactly what they have stated). Even I, a diehard WoW fan that has been playing since the original closed beta, have only subbed for like two months of this entire expansion, with the most recent month being this month ONLY for the broom and HHM mountsâŠ
Itâs a cool idea, just extremely boring and proves that people donât want non-epic storylines like the vocally loud vanilla crowd make it seem. Off the top of my head, a couple other glaring issues are things like the terrible talent tree system that give the illusion of choice(again) and the extreme amount of button bloat on almost every spec(again). I absolutely hated MoP and still do to this day, but DF is pretty much equal to it now for me, which is sad because I wanted to like this expansion.
Legion was probably peak WoW storytelling+worldbuilding and to a lot of us, it was far better than Wrath was.
Truth is, if you donât like it and youâre still here, something is wrong with you.
-
Every expansion is the worst according to some people who still stay here investing their time and/or money into something they think sucks.
-
Some claim they stay because of their friends, but if this is the only place they have friends, that too is an indication something is wrong with them.

Iâve had moments where I thought the game was terrible. So I stopped playing and did other things I enjoyed.
If you think itâs that bad quit. Donât hang out here trying that pseudo-edgy stuff that got boring back in BC. If you want attention that bad, get a puppy.
You are correct. I already know something is wrong with me.
This is the first expansion Iâve stayed playing since WOTLK.
I quit every other expansion a couple months in and then rejoined for their end of expansion event, overall this was a hit for me.
It sounds weird⊠for me the only one I did that with was pandaria. Lol. Legion, at the end of it, was my favorite expac, but it had kind of a slow build after the shock and awe opening.
DF is enjoyable, story is meh but overall a solid fun expansion and yes, whether you wanna accept it or not⊠back-to-back bad expansions affected the people willing to come back, never heard of the saying, âenoughs enoughâ
But, you keep pushing your frail narrative big dawg.
No. Its not true. People need to be given a reason to change. And if theyre enjoying what theyre doing, DF wasnt a good enough reason.
I quit after Cata for LoL. I tried MoP and WoD for a month, i didnt try Legion at all.
Do you think Legion was bad? Because Legion didnt get me to come back.
Outside of SL and the drama, the one thing that turns me off from DF is that they raised the level cap, effectively throwing away the effort the put into chromie time and the level squish.
This is technically false.
Shadowlands had a report from blizzard stating that âsubs were the highest they have been in 10 yearsâ. Which is the only time iirc they have mentioned subs since wod.
Which at the time, doing the math, would put it in the start of cata area. 10-11 mil subs.
