Stop CCing my dots off

This is a bit of a rant

Stop CCing dots off of enemies when dot classes are about to kill them.

I had a rogue FULLY dotted. We’re talking Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Soul Rot, Phantom Singularity AND Haunt.

Fully dotted, CDs popped, Dark Glare Summoned and me at full shard about to spam Malefic Rapture and melt him from 20ish yards away

And what happens you ask? A warlock used succubus seduce on him

WHY? Why do you do this? Not warlocks specifically, (although this warlock should lose their warlock license for such a travesty) but any class with CC that dispels dots, why??

I’ve had every class that’s capable of removing dots do this, and every time I just sit there like  Welp, guess I’ll let him kill you since you just saved his life. Good luck :+1:

I’ve had rogues Blind my dots off, mages sheep, paladin’s repentance, demon hunters imprison, hunters freeze trap, warlocks seduce, and probably whatever other class that is capable of it.

It’s so frustrating, especially since afflictions setup isn’t exactly quick or easy to pull off. It’s not like I run up to people and press instant CDs and do big damage. There’s a lot of setup required, and all that just to have a clueless teammate cancel it all

Sometimes I wish dispelling my dots made them jump to the dispeller. At least I could kill something and not feel like I wasted my entire setup

Ok rant over :triumph:

That at least doesn’t remove the dots, it just makes them immune for the duration so it’s not as bad. I can still attempt a kill after it ends

Wow you are like the 1st person that realize this in a loooooong time haha
Anyway i was being cheaky

So that’s why that lock told me to stop using rep. I had no idea, I was just trying to cc.

Thanks, I’ll do my best to remember that in future games with aff locks.

the same players who are unaware of the consequences of these actions feel they should be higher ranked in blitz and afk out of epics.

Merry Christmas.

Yooo male human ret here horsing into 20 people to blind their dots off then immediately die

Happy New Year to all the enemy rets who’ve saved my life by running in and blinding all those dots off me! You are the true heroes of the Light!

I had a ret last night who refused to sit a base, laugh about it, and then blind a locks dots off. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen to see someone defy his own teammates in that way.

They put training wheels on all the CC that breaks on damage to make life easier for those classes, and in doing so gave them the ability to entirely shut down the damage of their allies.
Then the CC breaks instantly anyway because everybody’s rotation has a ton of baked in cleave. So all that CC needs more training wheels and we’ll give them damage thresholds next season. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Do we know if they will no longer remove dots?

Yeah, the warlock who used seduction got zero value out of it. It instantly broke because he himself was dpsing the rogue.

He literally just wasted my CDs.

Personally I think the training wheels should be changed. It should pause dot damage but not remove the dots. It should obviously not pause their duration, but the damage of whatever duration remains should kick back in when the cc breaks

It’s just so infuriating to setup arguably one of the hardest dps setups in the game, and have some oblivious unaware teammate panic and use an unnecessary cc and cancel all of it

This seems like the most reasonable compromise.

I don’t know if this kinda thing will ever stop in a battleground setting though. Too much chaos.

I didn’t know any of those things removed dots. Sorry, I’m pretty much a drooler with no keybinds though.

I didn’t know about our blind removing dots until I read that in another thread a few months ago. So I guess it’s good that people make these threads, LOL.

It’s even better when we screw it up for them just so they fly into a rage.

Nowhere on repentance tooltip does it say, removes dots, nor does my terrible @$$ have time to look for little bitty debuffs above a player frame, nor would I know what the symbol meant anyway, when every ounce of my limited mental capacity is try to help the team and heal them.

Blinding light is probably worse because I have for sure and certain gotten on my horse and ran into a death ball and hit it trying to stop a million casts going off and not rode out of said death all again. There is no telling how many times I’ve done it in M+ runs too.

So again, sorry to all the dot classes that I have shuffled and blitzed with that I removed dots. Now that I know, I will truly try and not do it anymore.

I feel your pain. If it weren’t for reading about it in the forums, I would never have known.

Hunters hand out free dispels all day in BGs scattering and trapping kill targets.

Pretty much any cc that says “Damage will cancel the effect” has a mechanic to remove dots when it’s used.

Sheep
Blind
Freeze Trap (unless talented into diamond ice)
Seduce (warlock succubus)
Repentance
Imprison (except the unbreakable one)
Ring of Frost
Scatter shot
Incapacitate
Chastise (unless talented into a stun)
Blinding light

I’m probably missing a few but yeah. Any cc that breaks on damage will usually remove all dots. It’s very frustrating for us dot specs :sob:
