Stop back filling lost games

Tired of zoning into a game with less than 3 minutes left and near impossible to win.

Another person who has had their time wasted and enjoyment ruined by someone who has chosen to desert a battleground because they can get away with it with no consequence.

They SHOULD back fill them…with people that quit BGs.

This. Convert deserter to a debuff that:

  • Lasts indefinitely
  • Stacks up to 5
  • Restricts queuing only to ongoing games
  • Has 1 stack removed for every completed game

This limits impact on unintentional desertion (d/c’s, etc) and hits serial deserters hardest, with the worst offenders racking up debt that can’t be dodged by queueing with an alt for a while.

That’s the best suggestion ever.

This wouldn’t stop people from quitting if they think their team is going to lose. Which would obviously be much worse because them leaving would guarantee a loss. It would not be pretty to see.

Why? Instead of /afk out they will just run in circles or feed kills to the opposite faction with not focusing the objectives. If they afk out someone new might come in and actually turn the tide.

In my experience tide turning is exceedingly rare. It happens but not often enough to risk marooning fresh queuers. If deserters choose to pay their debt by running in circles it’s not ideal, but it still functions as enough of a deterrent that people won’t leave as flippantly.

But from my perspective, having AI bots fill in for leavers instead works fine too. Just don’t design the system such that leavers can foist their games off on somebody else. Fresh queuers need not pay for the impatience of others.

You must be getting lucky with your BGs. The majority of the time I get teams who are just derp or come up against a cancer comp on the opposing faction.

For situations like that /afk saves me from throwing my keyboard out the window. Why would I sit through either circumstance when I can just afk and do something that is not infuriating?

Luck depends on the day, but I stick with all my games. I can count the number of BGs I’ve left intentionally since 2005 on one hand. Queueing is treated as a commitment. Frustration happens sometimes, but it’s nothing in the grand scheme of things and is just a fact of life in randoms.

The underlying problem is people have varying reasons for queueing into BGs. Some people queue for fun and don’t care if they lose. Some people want to focus objectives and win. Some people want to farm kills and don’t care if they lose. Some people queue with friends in order to stomp the competition into the ground.

As of this expansion I have used /afk quite often on my leveling toons. Whether due to imbalanced enemy comp, lack of teamwork/strategy or getting a BG that I hate (deepwind gorge and silvershard mines).

It would be nice if bgs had meaningful rewards again. I think that would deter a lot of the leavers if we had a mop style currency where you get a small amount even on a loss. That way a loss wouldn’t be a complete waste of time.

I agree. As of now there is zero compelling reason to sit through a lost bg.

-When are we sure a BG is lost? many people that leave do so in the first 5 minutes of a match…with scores like 1- 0…

-The enemy team is NOT obligated to let you win because you are RUIN. I would have thought that fighting with them might have taught you that wins require you DO THE WORK. quitting is the opposite.

PVP is it’s own reward, if you can not understand that, go join a PVE guild, slay your dragons and get your armor. If the rewards are just that awesome to you anyway, you really have no reason to lower yourself to fighting with those of us that don’t care about your gear score.

For people who have done a ton of BGs a lot can be and is determined by the first or second clash. How well is your team peeling for your healer/fc? How well is your team attacking/ccing their healer? How well is your team interrupting the critical spells? How well is your team ccing targets and bursting another? Are they communicating at all? Are they focusing objectives or just farming kills?

When did I state I expect the enemy team to rollover and allow us to win. As for Ruin… it is a mass invite guild who only does one thing. WPVP in Nazjatar, thats it.

PvP WAS it’s own reward. Now there is a large barrier for entry that is primarily… you guessed it PvE.

I have done THOUSANDS of BGs on THIS character. Do not presume to talk down to me about game play tactics that you make 0 effort to share with your team…seeing as YOU LEFT.

Ruin turned around an epic battleground LAST NIGHT…what are you? NEW?

Stated well for one that should go back to slaying dragons and leave the PVP to those of us that have backbone.

It’s clear to me that you have lost your taste for battle, just stop coming we have no need of quitters.

If you have done as many BGs as you claim then you should know BFA is hands down the worst expansion in regards to pvp. Due to a number of issues. Class pruning, GCD, corruption effects, lack of pvp vendor.

Honestly who cares about guild events or lack thereof?

Don’t worry champ, I don’t do any BGs at 120 because of how disgusting it is. Keep at it with your “never afk even if teamwork is 0” mentality, sounds really fun.

That’s all I want, NONE of you, or your kind. Peace.

This merely requires you check my profile. Your bitterness over the expansion is your problem.

This is the kind of BS remark I’d expect from an avid raider.
PVP isn’t a mini game to me. It should be treated like a valid way to gear up.
That’s like saying people shouldn’t be rewarded for killing raid bosses because the kill itself is it’s own reward.
Also, it’s pretty obvious when a bg is lost. You ever zone in to a BG where your team is being gy farmed and the score is 2-0?
If gear gives an advantage in pvp then why should people have to do boring raids when that’s not why they even play the game? I didn’t raid at all until vendors were removed.

When I join a losing BG I leave immediately rather just take the deserter and go back to questing. Got to be efficient with time.
