A new Sons of Hodir Tabard is coming to Classic Wrath. It does not exist in Retail, nor did anything in the post say it will be added to Retail either.
That would mean this is the THIRD TIME something NEW was added to Classic that Retail did not get. The other ones being the 12 month sub drake and the Hoplet pet. Why is the “old” version of the game getting stuff Retail doesn’t have?
Please give us the Festering Emerald Drake, Hoplet and the Sons of Hodir Tabard on Retail. Thank you.
The whole point of Classic is that it’s supposed to be old stuff. Stuff that already existed in the past. Retail is the version that gets new things.
Why did Classic get 3 new things and Retail didn’t then? Could’ve just done the same as they did with Deluxe, and give both clients the mount and pet. Add Sons of Hodir tabard to retail.
This question doesn’t make much sense to me. The point was that the games are separate and there’s a lot more things added to retail promotions and the like than added to Classic. It’s fine for Classic to have something of its own, given the fact that it even has different gameplay styles compared to Retail.
Classic has been updated with new gameplay versions and any other ideas in order to keep people playing. There’s nothing wrong with the two games having different things.
classic is what?? classic… It shouldn’t be getting anything. The subscription is for retail and you get to play classic because of it. I agree with the OP.
You were not scammed. You simply didn’t read the full page to see that it was Classic only.
The phase-hunter is also a different mount on Classic vs Retail.
The sub is for every version of the game, depending on what you play. It’s considered a World of Warcraft subscription, not a Retail subscription. It even specifically says it’s for access to all three versions of the game.
And Classic has been getting things over the years. They will do what it takes to add QoL and incentive to play Classic.
Depends how you look at it. If you have two timelines, the retail and the classic - up until LK era, the timelines should be identical, and all the rewards in game should be as well. Post-LK the retail timeline would of course include things that the classic timeline doesn’t have (yet or ever).
Adding things specific to the classic timeline that didn’t exist in the retail timeline at that moment in time, such as this Sons of Hodir tabard, then diverges that parallelism. How can something exist in the classic LK era of the classic timeline that didn’t exist in the original LK era of the retail timeline?
I understand why they do it – they want to give Classic players something special, but technically everything that exists in classic should’ve existed in retail as well, matching moment for moment. Otherwise don’t call it Classic.
I think you need to reread the subscription page again, because this isn’t correct.
Join millions of players and enter a world of myth, magic, and endless adventure. With a single subscription, you can access World of Warcraft and WoW Classic, including Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
Included with Subscription: World of Warcraft, Wrath of the Lich King Classic
I debut these will ever come to retail. they only exist to try and get people back on classic playing. It would serve no purpose to have it on both retail and classic.
I mean giving them SOME reason to keep playing feels fair you know? It’s old content that they’re mostly doing for nolstagia, but new takes, new items, and other things made specifically to enhance it is fine.
